Gables Restaurant - Goan restaurant in Mumbai - Mumbai, India

Ordered the Sorpetel and Chorizo Sausages and coupled it with hot Pavs. The Chorizo Sausages had a nice tangy taste from the vinegar and was overall delicious. Enjoyed the Sorpotel too. The people who were serving were very friendly and were happy to answer any questions we had. Dinner was also very affordable. Only drawback is that the place did not have a place to wash hands. A wash basin would be very useful especially after you have got your hands all messy from the delicious food you've had.

The meal was amazing although it takes time for them to serve, but overall this place is very homely and gives a taste of Goa, therefore justifies the slow prep. I tried the Choris Pao, fried rice and bebinca with ice cream which is definitely a must try. If you're someone who's ready to be patient for good food, doesn't care about the cutlery, looks for a homely and slow vibe, go visit this place!

If you wish to have some authentic Goan food....this is the place! Awesome food! Sorpotel, Chorizo a must eat for foodies. A quiet place right in the middle of town but feels like one is having lunch in those far away places somewhere in Goa. Joel, the owner, nice guy, sometimes cooks himself else supervises the 50+ year old recipes himself. The old uncle serves there is hospitable too. ...and don't forget to have Dodol, a Goan dessert (total healthy...for the health conscious) after your meal.

A typical Goan restaurant at Colaba, its been around for ages. We tried their signature dishes, 1) Roast Pork (slices of roast pork in garlic pepper sauce with mash potato), 2) Mix Grill (Ham, Bacon, Sausage, Chicken amd fries, all topped with half fry egg), 3) Goa Sausage Chilly Fry (Portuguese inspired spiced and smoked pickled pork - Chorizo). They also serve a variety of Thalis, Curry Rice, Sea Food, Sizzlers, Sandwiches, Chinese, Pasta and Lasagna. They also have an assortment of breakfast dishes. Service is fast enough and waiters are friendly and food is good. Reminds you of Goa. Simple ambience, nothing fancy... Just good food.

Well its has that retro touch ,you will feel you are back in 1960s. A goan restaurant rightly situated near colaba causeway has its own history. Talking about food we had, chicken sizzlers were pretty average but prawns fry & also how can i forget bebinca with ice cream is a must. Also they need to focus on hygiene as plates & spoons were dirty. Will visit someday for sure.

Hi All, I want to give this restaurant a review, I want to keep this public how I got treated with my friend and my aunt. I want to tell you the whole truth so the gables vo worker and owner don't tell some different narrative. So yesterday (August 20, 2023) we were shopping to kolaba's street and my aunt wanted to have a tea for some refreshment we are crosswalking and saw this resto "Gables restaurant" I had bhel poori in my hand o approch to owner that can he make 1 tea without sugar since my aunt is diabetic, and one tea with sugar. he(owner) told that it will take 10-15 minutes since the tea was not ready then I told that would not be an issue. We are sitting you please make it ready. It took the same time he said and bring the tea on table. Just a one sip is enough to tell how the tea was...so pathetic ( sorry to use the word but I really wanted to reflect the emotions of it) my aunt true godsend soul she decided to complete the whole tea as its really not her ethics/morals to keep the beverage/food left what you are paid of and told me that after this we will tell the owner how tea was and give the feedback. That is what I did I left the table for payment and before the payment I told the owner how tea was and the ingredients it is missing and let me tell about the honest words owner said, ....it's that I gazed at first instance how you people are it seems like you guys are coming the first time in Mumbai, you don't have the standards/ethics to visit the restaurant like us. It seems like you are not willing to pay the bill for tea which is why you are saying and making such remak really Mr gables or joel Fernandes two Cup of Tea which hold the "not so worth" amount of 80 rupees. When the argument started taking a rage my friend had to enter and she told how your words and remarks are narrow and you should really need to clear the garbage you are holding in. A self proclaimed pompous arrogant owner started shouting like mad man as her egoistic personality of how a woman can show me the mirror.. "I pity you you poor soul"... You might make the good cuisine and tasty food or be best in town or best in india (which I highly doubt) . With this experience I wanted people to read and make their own view... Coming to gables was impromptu it's not iike we are planned and bound to be at the place... It's just because wanted a shelter and some much needed refreshment with sudden rain and there not a single soul in the restaurant only the owner and the cook... Later I know the why... There is much to tell as the somewhere in my brain things are not going to fade and I will never forgive how the my friend and my aunt got treated it's is the worst feeling I ever gone through. I told them sorry that I made them go through this... I just want let this out to the world make people to READ... And just visit their and ask that is it true and where is the human in you?

I've been visiting this place on and off, whenever I feel like having a home made style fish/prawn thali. They have goan home style food and some really nice continental cuisine too. Less oil, less salt, perfectly good fresh food with a very humble and simple setting. Extremely reasonably priced and that too with a humble service with a smile.

This place i could give no star but least here it's 1 star . The worst service in the town . Me and my friend went for some refreshments and we ordered tea The service took more than 30 min for just tea And later we gave them feedback how tea was ,the owner and the workers started saying bad words And even they served the worst tea I will never recommend anyone to visit there People i went through worst service And I wanted to share my experience.kindly don't visit there untill this is the last restro in the whole world
