A magnificent fort built by Kone kings of Senji(Gingee) and later on modified by various kingdoms. Trek up the stone steps to get a feel of the royal 'Hawa mahal'. Feel like a king(queen) and enjoy the majestic splendour.
Although it looked quite attractive from the bottom of the hill but I didn't climb as I they were yet to open. The opening time 9:30 am
Nice fort which explains the architecture before 400 years
Its on the way to pondi, didnt visit the place just took few pics from the road, easily visible from the road.
A place that combines history, picturesque views, trekking and a bunch of locations for good photo background. Would be best to visit at morning. The fort are open only till 3 in the evening. Indian travelers-15 rupees and foreign travelers-200 rupees for level 1 fort and 30 rupees for Indian travelers and 500 for Foreign in level 2 forts. A good place for a ride from Chennai - around 150km drive.
Great historical site. Would be 5 stars if the monument explanations gave some information on historical significance and events that happened there. Instead, it is all about dynasties and architectural style. Also the stairs are only for the firm-legged.
