We were looking for a quiet and cosy place to stay in Fort Kochi and the Fort Heritage hotel seemed appropriate from a range of choices available in this area. And this heritage hotel did not disappoint us on those parameters. Its a quaint, old world, sleepy and charming hotel close to all amenities and sights. We booked a suite room. Check in was smooth. The hotel was hardly occupied and the staff are cordial. They are non intrusive but helpful when you need any information or directions. The musty smell of the room upon entering did put me off. Later with the fan and AC, the odour went away. The suite room has a small common room when you enter and large bedroom. It consists of two single seater sofas, large double bed with blankets, large wardrobe, table and chair, mini fridge, large mirror, side tables and lamps, AC, two fans, basin with a mirror, thermos, electric kettle and glasses. Wardrobe contains hangers, extra pillows and an extra blanket. Room lighting is good. All plug points are not functional. The mini fridge did not seem to be maintained well. Toilet is large with a basin, western style commode, bath tub. Didn't find hot water automatically. Bath towels, hand towels, shampoo, soap, shower cap, bidet and toilet paper are complimentary. The mirror in the toilet has racks to put things. There is a ceiling and exhaust fan in toilet. The common room has a 3 seater sofa, centre table and another table to keep suitcase or other items. There is a fan. Room opens to a spacious common balcony running across the first floor. It overlooks the garden. Has fans and is cosy. The intercom doesn't work. There is no room service. There is a menu in the room which also gives information about the hotel's history. Only breakfast - eggs, toast, fresh juice, fresh cut fruits, butter, jam, tea/coffee - is served at the dining hall. Lunch and dinner is not served. Please ask the staff not to add sugar to your fresh juice if you prefer it that way else you will be drinking a sugar syrupy fresh fruit juice! There is a facility for Ayurvedic massage but we did not use it. It didn't look like it was much in use! Room is cleaned daily. We asked for a bottle of water when required. Wifi is free and signal strength was good. Oceanos restaurant, St Francis Church, private art gallerries, beach, eateries, Fab India are nearby at a walking distance taking 5 to 15 mins. Jew town is a 30-40 min walk.
The rooms are large and the seating area outside the rooms evokes a sense of the past. however, the hotel has seen better days, the AC did not work very well and it had a feeling of tiredness.
The 17th century Dutch building, now owned by a Syrian family, has been converted into a luxury heritage hotel. For experiencing the delightful architecture that bleeds out the blending of modern art and classical Kerala architecture, a stay in this hotel is a must on every tour to Cochin. While rebuilding this building into a heritage hotel, meticulous attention is given to restore all the furnishing and decor of 17th century, to give an essence of the world gone by. Even the walls are garnished by paintings from that era.
Fort Kochi's many moods and the historic ambience, and laid-back colonial charm make it a cosy and cultural romantic getaway. Stroll through wide streets in the Princess Street, which features heritage bungalows and roadside eateries packed with the non Indian crowd. The boat jetty offers picture-perfect scenery, complete with Chinese fishing nets and views of the Kochi Harbor. Spend an evening in Kasi Arts cafe, and explore the property's hart collection and friendly environment. The Princess Street boasts some of the best restaurants and boutique cottages, and it offers narrow alleys with quaint shops perfect for purchasing some souveneirs from Kerala

Maria has 20 years of cooking experience and shares so much of it during this session. I like that this was as much about learning the usage of spices and ingredients as it was about the 5 dishes we prepared as a group. Fast response setting up the
