Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun - University in Dehradun - Dehradun, India

It was founded in 1878 as "Forest School of Dehradun", after that its name changed to "Imperial Forest School" in 1884. by Dietrich Brandis. In 1906, it was reestablished as the Imperial Forest Research Institute, under the British Imperial Forestry Service. If you go here You will get transport easily. After coming here, you will have to take a ticket, which will be only for roaming, outside you cannot visit the museum. The ticket price is Rs.30. And there is a ticket of 200 rupees for the museum. This is a very beautiful building. It is also very big. And the building is the same from all sides.

A nice place to spend some time with friends and family. A nice spot for couples also. Entry ticket is 20rs and if you want to enter with a vehicle you will be charged 30rs extra. The main building of FRI is not that much of an attraction, instead the whole campus and the beauty of it will keep you astonished. Greenery at it's best. The only complain I have is that, there are no benches to be found anywhere in the whole FRI campus. People need some place to sit since everyone doesn't have vehicles and walking all the way is kind of hectic specially when the weather is hot. Beautiful gardening area.

During my visit to Dehradun visited this place and overall the good experience. As this place is having the museum which is very good. There are six sections in the museum: Pathology Museum Social Forestry Museum Silviculture Museum Timber Museum Non-Wood Forest Products Museum Entomology Museum. Also many bollywood movies were shot in the campus. So a must place to visit if you are in Dehradun or planning to travel.

What a beautiful place to have a roam around, click good pictures, a soothing environment, asthetic feel You can spend full day here, with a entry fee of around 10-20 rs. You can play football, cricket in grounds there. You can have meals at fri canteen which are good in taste and value for money too, I liked their chole bhature. Cleanliness is absolutely amazing, and I also Hope we should maintain it by best.

Green place, has entry fees. Student of the year, Rehna Hai tere dil mein movies shooting took place here. Museum ticket is 60 Rs and unless one is student they may want to save that money. its a hall where they have shown various insects and the damage they can cause to wood. Some good pictures can be clicked here. There is a canteen and washroom inside and enough parking space. The overall structure is to be seen which you see in most pictures and a good drive in greenry

GRAND & BEAUTIFUL A prestigious institute that looks beautiful and feels nothing short of a grand movie set. The buildings, hallways, stairs all remind of you of the British architecture that can be seen in English Universities. Located inside the city and connected by wide and smooth roads. Proper parking facility is available. Lush greenery all around, which is maintained very well. Perfect picnic spot for families, one can spend hours and hours and still not get bored. Affordable and tasty food is available in the canteen, do try their idly & sambhar. As it is a huge campus, be ready to walk for a considerable distance if you want to explore it inside out. Best timing to visit : 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM FUN FACT: many bollywood films have been shot here. One of them is Student of the year.
