The entry time was 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. forest entry charges rs. 50 for all vehicles and you will get a receipt for that. There is a register maintained by the Tamil Nadu forest department where we have to enter our vehicle number name, phone number from where we are coming etc. Pay and use toilets available here. Try to come as early as possible to see the wild animals. Luckily we saw bison peacock different kinds of monkeys, etc..
3days before i have crossed the checkpost they collected 20 rs for bike and got details about Bike . They were left from check post .
I feel the government officers (staffs) are posted here for collecting bribes. They will ask details about vehicles, passengers, trips and we should put signature in their register. After that without any shame simply they will ask bribe of 50 or more. Bribe collection point.... In the Anamalai (both exit and entry) check post they are asking money to pass through the forest. But the Chinnar Check post officials are very good they are not begging for money like in the TN side check post. The ride through this forest was good and the road is too narrow hardly two cars can passes through the road.
We were not allowed to pass the check post by the TN forest official Mr. Khwaja. He was very rude and aggressive. There is no information about the timings for entry anywhere, in Google as well as on the entry point board. When we tried reasoning with him about lack of information, he said now I'll not let you through because we asked him about the lack of information. Guys who want to pass through reach before 11pm. The gates will close for public vehicles between 11pm to 6am.
I don't know why there are charging us to pay 50Rs
VERY NARROW ROADS ,And so many speed breakers which puts load on the Break Pedals , Should know to use break correctly or you will be in Trouble NOT ADVISABLE FOR NEW DRIVERS Often Elephants can be seen near chinnar route so don't Stop the vehicles
Eco friendly atmosphere. Good people around. Always a pleasure to travel through the nature. It's better to check up the fuel before passing by. There is no fuel bunk on the way. Wild animals are seen on many instances. Try not to honk during the passage. Be cautious when riding a bike.
Me and my female friend were travelling from Bangalore to Munnar on 16th Feb. 2019, forest guard was polite initially and asked me to make the entry in register which i did. However, after making the entry he demanded 50 Rupees, for which i asked receipt. However, he said receipt cannot be provided. The guard standing near the car started demanding 50 rupees to which i said to him take 100 rupees but i need a receipt first. He had no other option but to let me go. Anyone travel through this checkpoint, do not refuse to give money, but do insist for a receipt first which they cannot provide
