Firoz Minar is situated in the old ruined city of Gaur about 40 kms. from Malda. It is almost similar to the Kutb Minar in Delhi. It was probably built in 1486-1489 A.D. by Saifuddin Firoz Shah who became the Sultan of the area during that period. The tower or Minar is built by using red bricks and terracotta work is visible in the entry door to the Minar .The height of the tower is about 26 mtrs. and has spiral staircase leading to the top. But now entry is closed due to some unknown reasons. A beautiful garden is maintained in the surrounding area and one very old tree stands near to the Firoz Minar. Nice place to hang out for some time.

Good place to visit with family at weekends. There is a small lake in front of it. Cons is that, there is no shop or canteen. You need to carry food with you, else spend short time and come back.
Firoz Minor is located one kilometre away from the Dakhil Darwaza at the city of Gaur. Gaur is at a distance of 16 kilometres from the city of malda and it is build by Saifuddin Firuz Shah. Previously it was allowed to get inside of the Minor but now it is closed to go inside.
The minar was built by Sultan Saifuddin Firuz Shah of the Habshi dynasty. The construction started in 1485 and ended in 1489. Colloquially, the tower is referred as Pir Asa Mandir and Chiragh Dani. The tower also commemorates Firuz Shah's victories in the battlefield. According to tradition, Firuz Shah threw the chief architect from the topmost storey as he was not satisfied with the minar's height and wanted it to be taller.
