Fauti Masjid - Featured Reviews (178)
A perfect combination of history and eerie feeling. Story - this entire structure was built on a single day. Reality - It is a neglected property If you have enough courage, climb up with almost dilapilated stairs and see the views from the top
This is a perfect example of neglect to our heritage and history. Such a massive structure is getting illegally occupied by locals. Govt has no vision / wish to restore and preserve this monument. Mosque is getting weak day by day. I climbed the almost non existent stairs to reach the top of the mosque. It's in very poor condition. Requesting any one associated to govt who ever come across this review to kindly look after this whether a heritage tag or anything else can be arrenged for this historical monument. It's our history. We have to preserve it.
Fauti Mosque is a mosque at Kumarpur in the Lalbag subdivision of Murshidabad district in West Bengal, India. It was built by Nawab Sarfaraz Khan in 1740 AD. The old Fauti Masjid is one of the largest mosques in the town of Kumarpur and Murshidabad district. It is about 3 quarters of a mile away from the grand and famous Hazarduari Palace. This grand mosque is 135 feet long and 38 feet broad. The mosque at present is in ruins and has been overgrown by a jungle nearby. It may fall any moment. No decent way to enter, you have to go around the jungle. Fauti name comes from the Hole in the Dome. Thrilling altogether. Surprisingly you will not get any proper guide. You can give few bucks to the local kids and they will tell you the history behind it. But it's a good place. Can give it a try. Since there is no security or proper guards, you can touch the walls.
This place will give you goosebumps, just that eerie feeling, this mosque had remain incomplete and now this is ruinly beautiful
A mosque with holes on the tip of the dome, depicted by its name. Stands beside the railway tracks, a good spot for photography. If u can climb the stairs of the mosque, you can enjoy a good view from the top, although its better to avoid the stairs as they are slippery and poorly made.
I was shocked at first Glance to see a monument like it in this horrible condition. You wouldn't even notice it behind the weeds. If this monument is not being conserved in the forth coming years , it is surely going to fall down.
Such a wonderful and Historical masjid in Murshidabad. unfortunately this Masjid is not preserved by archeological survey of India or West Bengal government, local people uses this Masjid for drinking alcohol and Marijuana. Shame on WB govt!
Incomplete mosque..only few tourist konw about the place ( those who have a good local guide can able to visit )...there are different interesting local myth about the structure....Government should take necessary steps for saving the rest portion of the mosque, otherwise it will be fully destroyed in couple of years...
The Yellow Mosque is said to have been built by Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah in 1756-57, in the Hazarduari Palace complex, on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. According to the Archaeological Survey of India, as mentioned in the List of Monuments of Nation

This Pareshnath temple is also known as Adinath temple. It is situated inside Kathgola Baganbari. It's a Jain temple with flowers all around it. The temple is made of marble and the flower garden outside gives it an outstanding look.
