The OG Jigarthanda shop in Madurai. We would witnessed many Jigarthanda shops with the same branding across TN, but this is the 1st shop and was originally opened in Madurai. You can easily find the difference in Taste and Quality of the Jigarthanda provided here. OG for a reason! The best part is they give parcels to other cities also. Incase if you want to carry it to a longer distance, they pack them accordingly in an ice box for which they charge some additional fee. It can survive for 20-24 hrs inside the box. Only con is the Parking. It is located in the most busiest junction, hence parking cars will be really next to impossible. Otherwise, if you are someone who wants to try the original Madurai Jigarthanda, then this place serves the purpose. Cost: Rs35/Mini Serve or Rs70/Regular Serve; Basundi cost around Rs70/Serve

The taste of the Jigarthanda made up for it. It was creamy, sweet and had a perfect balance of flavors. The staff was friendly and quick to serve us. The ambiance of the place was average, but it's understandable since it's a street-side shop. Overall, I would recommend Madurai Famous Jigarthanda to anyone who loves this traditional drink. Just be prepared for the lack of hygiene.

When you are in Madurai, this is a must try! Famous Jigarthanda has many outlets in Madurai and also in various other cities in TN. But this is their original shop and this is the best! You need to stand in the road and enjoy this, but forget about the comfort.. just enjoy the taste.
