This is one of the most unique monument of Assam. But sadly no maintenance at all. Its architecture is truly awesome, resembles somewhat the chichen itza structure
It is one of the most amazingly beautiful monuments of Sivasagar, just a few metre away from Tala-tal ghar. This doul was constructed by Swargadeo Rudra Singha in remembrance of his mother Queen Joymoti Kunwari in between 1703-04. There is belief that this architecture is maidam of Queen Joymoti Kunwari. The architecture is unique, it was octagonal and has four stairs leading to the top. Top view is amazing. This architecture reminds me of the Pyramids of Egypt. Sadly, this architecture needs the attention of Archeological survey of India. This can be a famous tourist destination. *No entry fees.
Fakuwa Dol is the crematorium of Sati Joymoti located at Sivasagar, near Talatal Ghar. Bulit by Rudra Singha, in the memory of his mother in 1703-04, a pyramid-shaped temple on the banks of the Joysagar Tank. It is said that Rudra Singha, once again to perpetuate the memory of his mother Soti Joymoti, constructed the temple and placed a golden idol of her within it. It was actually a moidam (grave) of Joymoti. The circumference of the Dol was about 90 ft (27 m), and its height from base to top was 30 ft (9.1 m). There were eight brick pillars around the temple. The temple and the pillars are among some of the Ahom ruins that remain in Assam to this day.Its shaped is similar to Mayan Pyramid. You will definitely like it. Needs proper maintenance and care.
A calm place to visit but hard to find because of the roads but overall good experience
Got to see something which I had never known or heard of before. It needs to be highlighted as an important spot. It's all behind people's homes so not visible easily.
Fakua Doul is Pride of Assam. But right now in a very bad situation. There is not even a way to get into Doul.Large buildings of people surround the Doul and cover it.
Sheer lack of maintenance! This 'historical site' is surrounded by residential house. While walking towards the site you would feel honoured to glace at the rear part of houses that includes latrines as well
