Elephant Zone - Zoo in Kolkata - Kolkata, India

A zoo is an enclosed area where animals and birds are housed with a lot of care. The authorities of the zoo take care of the animals and birds. The zoo allows the visitors to know more about the animals, their behaviour, etc. Zoos are one of the favourite places to visit for kids, where they not only enjoy but also learn a lot of new things about various animals. We teach our children about various animals and birds from books, but a zoo is a place where they can see the animals and birds of different species naturally. Every year I visit the zoo with my family. It has been six years now that we have been visiting the Nandankanan Zoo every year. It is the most interesting and exciting place for my family and me. We all love animals, but we hardly see these animals in their natural habitat. That is why zoos are made. We learn a lot of things about these animals, like their habitat, their food styles, etc. The best part about this place is the authorities do not allow us to feed the animals. It is for the safety of the visitors as well as the animals. The cages are huge in this zoo as compared to the other ones I have ever been to, which gives the animals enough space for their survival.

The elephant zone is located within the Alipore zoo itself and is a open air park. Currently there are two young elephants in the enclosure which are very playful and are quite fun to watch. One of the exit gate to the zoo is directly opposite to this zone so keep a lookout for it as it will lead you directly to the main road.

One and only ZOO in kolkata. Good for kids. I went in winter and it was very crowded. Must visit place if you visit kolkata. Try to visit in winter you will see many birds

It's one of the most serene places inside the Alipore Zoo, currently inhabited by two young, playful & cute elephants. Both of them compliment each other perfectly & on most occasions you will find them playing with one another, or taking a joyful bath in the pool together. After the bath session, they get back onto the land and with the help of their trunks they cover their bodies with sand and mud, in order to protect their skin from the Sun. Do visit this Elephant Zone while touring the Alipore Zoo.

Nice place. Clean area. Staff are good. Not a much crowded.

It's good but difficult to find . Zoo keepers should make those healthy by giving good meals.

There are two Indian elephant. They both have tusks but small one.One may see enjoying them pulling bark of tree .

Elephants are kept under the open sky in this zone... Two new baby elephants have just been brought here... Those two elephants are always busy with themselves.... Playing among themselves, appreciating each other, rubbing the soil together -your mind will be filled by seeing these activities of theirs. And you'll be happy from inside... A must bring place for li'l kids...
