Elephant Valley Eco Farm Hotel - Hotel in Kodaikanal - Dindigul, India

It was an absolute waste of money and UNSAFE. Especially the Honeymoon cottage which they put up away from the rest of the cottages, nearby the river, deeper in the forest. There was no proper pathway or lights leading towards this particular cottage. Food doesn't get delivered here for fear of animals (elephants, bisons). But they absolutely had no issue taking money from us to set us up in such a place. I went there on a vacation, but I was anxious every night to get back to my room which involved walking into the dark forest without any light , with leeches, insects and God knows what. When I complained, and asked them they should have a specific disclaimer with what staying in this cottage entailed. They said you can see the reviews and come. So it's on the guests to inform other guests about the risks. I'm aware the risk takers may like the cottage, but the guests should be properly informed before they get stuck in such a place and the choice should be left on them. I asked them to show in their info pamphlets where this is written, but they couldn't show anything. Rooms were not well maintained. AVOID THIS PLACE.The staff was friendly and food was decent. But I'd prefer safety. Have one less cottage, but the greed shows they don't care. I'm absolutely furious.

If you want to go off-road and get away from the city hustle bustle then this the place for you. Please don't go if you are looking for luxury. Initially it was difficult to get hold of the staff. Food and beverages are average and decent. The only problem we faced was that the beds were very smelly.

Location is very remote. The road is very bad for 6km Rooms are aloof, we ve to walk for some distance. No intercom. No room service. No wifi Food should be ordered much earlier. And they r not taking orders on the table. Food taste s also bad If we want something to buy, we ve to ride ourselves to the town and get, no one will get for u In short, this resort is not ideal for family or friends

USP of this property is it's location close to a river. Locations get 5 star from me. Staffs are cooperative. Service gets 4 star. Rest are average. They need to improve on the food quality and it's pricing. If you are looking for convenience, this is not the property for your vacation. You should expect a lot of hard walking. Particularly when you book adventure Suites which is located across the river, you need to walk for 10 mins from the dinning area, crossing a canopy bridge. You can expect few leech bites along the way . No room service makes it all the more difficult. Was disappointed to know upon arrival that camp fire is not permitted.

The ambience, the staff, the location, the oneness with nature... the food & hospitality, the adventure in a jungle retreat with rules to not attract animals/elephants around the valley... The weather, the sounds of nature... Wonderful experience. Special mentions: Adnan, Rahul & Mani

I would prefer a long weekend stay during April-May as the resort mesmerises you. Avoid rainy seasons. Rooms near river side had pest control done but floor paint kept sticking to the legs. Hilltop rooms were not dusted. There is no room service. Totally not safe for family as bisons, monkeys and elephants will be your surprise visitors near the stream. Signal problems, BSNL and vodaphone works well. The old man who helps is really friendly. Hotwater is provided. Food was too good as it was made by a catering student but dont expect much varieties for the heavy cost. Try samples of pepper cultivated nearby, not coffee. Resort is before kodai, 6-7kms downhill travel on a bumpy and unsafe road. Bird watchers shall love the place as a peacock will be your alarm clock everyday. Resort trekking activity can be taken by people who wish to walk more only. No refund.

While we were on route to the property, we were disappointed on the fact that this place was 20km away from Kodaikanal Town. But when we reached there we realised we might not even go to Kodaikanal since the property in itself is very very beautiful. We were staying this close to nature for the first time. We could see stars at night, it was wonderful since we come from land with light pollution. The rooms are arranged in old cottages with old, well maintained furnitures. There is no air conditioning inside room. Hot water is available. There is no room service. We would have to go to restaurant in property to have food. Food felt organic. Trekking provided on request. If you are looking for a peaceful stay, this is the right place.
