The home of Royal Elephants, the Elephant Stable is a conjunction of grand structures meant as a resting ground for elephants whose job was perhaps to protect the queens and her entourage from any kind of enemy attacks. There is a guard's quarters as well nearby which indicates the purpose and positioning. It is part of Zenana Enclosure. Today one can see the remanants from the glorious days of Queen's palace and even now the Lotus Mahal is very much in shape.

This place was constructed for the elephants of Vijayanagara dynasty. Each stable is tall and huge which can comfortably accommodate a fully grown elephant. Very old construction, well maintained. Outside the stables it's an open ground, which is full of green grass. It will hardly take 10-15 minutes to visit this place completely. If you wanna spend more time you can go for a stroll in the open ground which is surrounded by big trees.

Beautiful structure inside janana enclosure meant for maintaining elephants. The structure has individual rooms for each elephant. These rooms are really big. The area is very neatly maintained with beautiful lawn and chairs for sitting. This and lotus mahal are paid visits and for Indians the ticket price is 35 each for individuals above 15 years.

It is one of the very few structures that have not suffered extensive damage during the Mughal attack on Hampi that led to the downfall of the Vijayanagara Empire in 1565 A.D. The ancient stable is a major attraction among the tourists even today
