Unique temple premises on the the top of a hillock. The view from the top is amazing. The structure of the temple has been replicated in our old Parliament House building. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Not many tourists visit the temple.

The Ekattarso Mahadev Mandir temple in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, was built about 700 years ago during the reign of the Rajput king Maharaja Jaipal. The temple is also known as Chausath Yogini Temple and has 64 rooms that house Shiva's lingam. It has a unique circular shape unlike other Hindu temples and has a separate sanctum which is also circular. Interestingly, the shape and design of the temple is similar to the design of the old Parliament building and Mitaori is believed to have been the inspiration for Sansad Bhawan4. This structure can be seen from a distance from atop a 100 feet high hill. You have to climb 100 steps to reach the temple on the hill. This 10th century architectural wonder has survived a major earthquake without any major damage. Located in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, about 40 km from Gwalior, Mitaori or Mitawali, was built by Maharaja Devapala in 1323 AD. The best time to travel is winter from November to February1. Mitaori is open 24 hours a day and there is no entrance fee yet. In the future, a participation fee may be charged in consideration of the development of this region.

An architectural marvel from the 10th century that survived massive earthquakes without much damage. Located in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, about 40km from Gwalior, Mitaoli or Mitawali was constructed in 1323 AD by Maharaja Devapala. One has to climb a flight of 100 steps to reach the hilltop temple. This is also called Chausath Yogini Temple with 64 chambers that have Shiva lingas placed inside. The temple has a unique circular shape unlike all other Hindu Temples and has another sanctum which is also circular. Interestingly, the shape and design of the temple resembles the design of old Parliament House and is believed that Mitaoli was an inspiration for the Sansad Bhawan. Locally known as Ekttarso Mahadev Temple, the structure is visible from a distance on the 100 feet hillock. Best time to visit is November to Feb during winters. Mitaoli is open 24 hours and has no entry fee yet. In future, they might have an entry fee, looking at the development around. This was our second visit to Mitaoli in 2023. The first attempt to visit in 2019 failed since there were no roads back then.

It's located at the top of a hill. Gives an amazing view from the top. Should be visited in the evening as the afternoon will be sunny. There are 64 Shivlings surrounding the main centre shivling. A place worth going to and taking blessings from.

The temple is built on a circular platform and is surrounded by a circular wall with 64 small cells. Each cell contains a Shivalinga, a representation of Shiva. In the center of the temple is a large open mandapa, or hall, with a roof supported by pillars. If you're interested in learning more about Hindu culture and history, or if you're looking for a peaceful place to relax, the Ekattarso Mahadev Mandir is a great place to visit.

Quite and peaceful place which is isolated and well maintained and kept very clean. It has parking space and a must visit with family to witness this architectural marvel. A bit remote so you won't get any good stay options nearby. But you can plan a stay in nearby cities like Gwalior or Morena and plan a half day trip to this place.
