A very beautiful place to visit. Not much parts of the fort are present, but the staircase to reach the fort are in very good condition. This staircase is main attraction of the fort. Around 2 and hal hour required to reach the top. One buruj can been seen at the corner of the fort. Another attraction is natural bridge connecting Bramhgiri and fort. On the way to the fort one can visit the place where Lord shiva hammer his 'Jatta'. It is the starting point of river Godavari also known as Dakshin Ganga. Most of the people come to visit this point, very few come to visit the fort. The route to the Gangadwar is different. The route is well marked with named Bramhagiri but not as Durgbhandar fort, as it is very less known fort. Lots of snacks shop present during trek. Parking is same as that of Shiv Temple of Trambakeshwar. Parking charge is rs 50/- for four wheeler. View from top is awesome.
Durgbhandar is a historical fort adjacent to Bramhagiri which we can see behind Trayambakeshwar city. You can go there by small trail by side of Shiv temple (jata mandir) on bramhagiri. *Bramhagiri is crowded in monsoon specially on weekends so Try to avoid on Monsoon Weekends. FOREST DEPARTMENT TICKETS - 30Rs per person at Starting of Bramhagiri. View is good, Whole Trayambakeshwar city with Nashik - Trayambakeshwar Highway, harihar fort and bhaskargad are visible from here. How to go : MSRTC or Citylink bus from Nashik (cheaply affordable). Private vehicles or taxi available but you have to pay more till Trayambakeshwar. Trek on bramhagiri. What to see : Trayambakeshwar Mahadev temple, bramhagiri shiv temple, Shiv jata mandir (origin of Godavari) , Engraved steps of Durgbhandar, Cistern, Trayambak city and around view.
Thrilling Trek... You have to go forward from bramhagiri mountain, shiv jata mandir. Two phases of up and down stairs are just aswome. One old water tank(paannyaacaa ttaakaa) is there at end of mountain .... Just like ancient infinity pool. Again be aware of monkeys. If possible grab some food for them .
One of the best trek for trekkers.......must visit fort ....u will get best experience for life....little bit difficult but do visit
bramhagiri fort and durgbhandar are twin forts bramhagiri has known history as starting point of godavari river which then gets disappeared and started flowing at trambakeshwar temple which is located at base.
Really amazing fort. Most people come to bramhgiri hill but they don't know about durgbhandar fort. It's very easy to trekking from bramhgiri. Cutting of stairs inside the rock is really amazing. Wortr visit to go for seeing rock stairs Sunset view is best view from top of fort
Durg Bhandar is easy-to-climb fort - trekking to this fort will be the best experience for everyone this winter. It is situated near Trimbakeshwar and one has to climb Bramhagiri hills to reach there. Walking on the wall between Bramhagiri Hills and Durg Bhandar will be the adventurous part of this trek which will lead you rock-cut steps on the Durg Bhandar. From the top, one can witness the picturesque view of Temples in the Trimbakeshwar area. Durg Bhandar lies in Nashik region near in Trimbakeshwar and part of Brahmagiri mountain. Durg Bhandar or Bhandar Durg is more sort of a watchtower. The main attraction here is the deep rock cut steps which goes deep inside from Brahmagiri mountain the fissure and comes out in natural bridge and again goes up the fissure to Durg Bhandar. Apart from this Brahmagiri is also the source of Godavari river which flows towards east and meets Bay of Bengal. Durg Bhandar has a unique shape as it is like a cubicle and seperated from main mountain by the natural rock
Durgbhandar fort , Nasik. This fort is adjacent to the Bhramagiri mountain. It is at one end of the Bhramagiri mountain. The fort has two parts one which is part of Bhramagiri mountain . The other part is connected to this part via a natural ridge. The ridge looks like a natural bridge connecting the two mountain parts. The way to the ridge from both part of mountains is through steps which are cut inside the mountain. Each side has about 60 steps which connect the top of each mountain section to the ridge. At the end the steps lead to a entrance /exit however the same is partly buried and one has to bend to move in/out. There must have been proper doors at these places in ancient times. The ridge must be around 100 ft deep from the mountain tops. On the other side the fort has a bastion. One would be awestruck seeing the steps which are cut inside the mountain and this raises the question how someone would have first thought about this unique idea of connecting the ridge in this fashion, also what tools must have been used to cut these steps , how much labour and time must have gone in cutting these steps and many more questions. A big salute to our ancestors who have created this marvel and we all are lucky to still see this. PC : Yours truly Dop : Feb 23, 2023
