One of the biggest Buddhist University. Beautiful places and all monks are busy with studies. Must visit and take a break from the dynamic world routine ..
Best place to visit during any time of the year. The Tibetan camp in Mundgod presents finest architecture. Timing is 10-5. The cleanliness is admirable.
A hidden jewel in north Karnataka... a divine place of Tibetan monastery of lord Buddha... a giant monastery hall and beautiful Tibetan architecture which a big treat to a person who loves history and art...it does provide stay arrangements at nominal costs with good rooms... there is a good Tibetan restaurant as well to try the Tibetan cuisine ... the Tibetan monks are very friendly and approachable... Roads are good and well maintained... Will definitely visit again with a longer stay...

My friends and I, being typical college students, decided to visit the Tibetan camp in Mundgod; an impromptu roadtrip from Davangere. We left around 12 noon, and after a beautiful drive, reached the camp just around lunch time. The camp itself is quite surreal; it suddenly feels like you're in another country, a different language and different culture, but a terrain so characteristic of central Karnataka. As you are overwhelmed by the culture shock, you are welcomed by the locals. They are very kind and helpful. There was one incident where, a restaurant owner pointed us to another restaurant as she genuinely believed that the other restaurant would offer us food, that would take better to our taste buds! So you can only how imagine that the experience only gets better the moment you enter the gates to the monastery. You are easily at peace with the monastery grounds. The well trimmed hedges to the multicoloured flowers and the strong gusts of wind; one could easily find peace in this serene garden. We made the unfortunate mistake of travelling on a Monday, as they close the monastery early on Mondays. So we didn't have much experience time to explore the interior of the monastery. But I do remember staring, astonishingly at the vivid art work on the walls. The murals, all tell a tale of the history of the world, in an overwhelming blend of colours. We spent our evening walking around in the garden, and taking advantage of the evening sun, taking photos of the beautifully kept garden, before we had to leave. If you are travelling and Mundgod is on the way, you really should explore the Tibetan camp, and explore the culture and the authentic cuisine. Spending a couple of hours here is only going to make your travels lot more memorable.
