Dr. Varun Gupta (ENT Specilist Doctor) - ENT Specialist in Delhi - East, India

Utterly unprofessional and zero ethics or compassion. I visited Dr. Varun Gupta, for my ear infection on Fri, 11 Aug 23, I took a short leave from office, however the doctor arrives late despite appointment, which is okay, understandable. His consultation fee is Rs. 1000, for basic check. He mentioned hard wax build up and fungal infection around my ear drum, but to remove it's Rs. 1000 which needs to be paid over and above the consultation fee and in advance, and he said as much, that i will try but it may not be successful today and I will have to come again. I was hesitant about paying advance but I trusted and paid. After the procedure he did (I'm not questioning the procedure here), there was no result zero wax removal as he mentioned it's too hard, rather my ear pain increased considerably, and he knew I'm in a lot of pain. The second session was scheduled for today, Mon, 14 Aug 23, at 7 pm. Again, I shared how I will need to leave early from office to come for appointment. I've been in extreme pain since the last visit, being a specialist I'm sure he is aware of this. Now here's where his and his team's unprofessionalism starts - He doesn't uphold his appointment, no information from his team, nothing. I had asked my father to reach the clinic before me as he has the prescription/receipt and for courtesy in case I'm a few minutes late while coming from office, my dad reaches 30 mins before and no doctor. Unfortunately I had already left from office when my dad informed me. When I reach I'm obviously upset and pissed and create a scene. I wanted a refund and at a bare minimum an apology for the goof up. But instead the doctor tried to shift the onus of this on me, he said that I didn't inform his staff to make an entry of this in the register. I tried to tell him, that he never informed me that I need to do this, besides it's his team's job, they are aware of the process, he had sent his assistant with the prescription informing him about everything, and infact now while writing this review I recall that the assistant did indeed inform the receptionist about my appointment and payment, anyway, I don't know if his team goofed up or he is just passing this off. He never apologized, his team never apologized, they didn't refund, and said we can see you on Wednesday - I am already in extreme pain taking pain killers after every 5 hours, already took 2 short leaves, and he did not even have compassion to apologise for the error! Just beware making advance payments, and do his team's work for them, ensure they have the appointments written, call them in advance to reconfirm the appointment even. And don't go in emergency and don't expect basic human decency of refunds when made an error or apologies. Thank you for no healing but a lesson learnt! ------ Update: Oct 15, 2023 - This is in response to Dr. Varun's reply to my essay long narration which he hasn't even properly read: 1. I never questioned your procedure or fees, I have mentioned this in my post. 2. Again you are shifting the blame on me, whereas you yourself gave me the appointment, called your staff in the check-up room, and instructed him to take advance payment and make a note of the appointment. Your staff diligently took the advance and made the appointment in their register. Your staff had my phone number to call and inform me that you will not be available for the scheduled appointment. 3. You talked to me only after I made a scene. And even then, there was no apology for the goofup instead you shifted the blame on me. You were quick on taking advance but not so quick in offering a refund or apology for not keeping an appointment. 4. Also, I am blessed to have doctors and next gen doctors in my family and I see their dedication and earnestness towards their profession, which is why I expect nothing less from any other doctor. 5. Lastly, you have a right to cancel appointments and make personal plans, however the least you can do is inform the patient. Or accept and apologise when you have made a mistake.

Never seen any doctor who instead of asking the patient that what is the reason for visit, asks patient to pay before coming to clinic and then he will confirm his appointment. They way it was communicated to me gave an indication that it's all about money !

I had a great experience with Dr. Varun Gupta sir as a first timer. He is compassionate and diligent in making sure his patient is in the best possible condition. He relates well to people and takes out time to listen and take appropriate action on the symptoms. Moreover, he is so lovely to talk to at every appointment.

Good doctor. Very much satisfied. He did my mother's surgery. She got Instant relief and clear vision the very next day after the surgery. Highly recommended!

During pandemic treatment from Dr Varun proved to be accurate and timely. He not only gives valuable guidance but his behaviour is also good. His constant advise along with medicines and monitoring of the situation kept me and my wife doing well. His staff is also supporting. We got full support from the staff as well. Our experience was very good Dr. Varun is soft spoken, kind and very experienced. Sir you showed us a new way of living by keeping us stress free during the time of dreadful illness. I thank Dr Varun Gupta. He is a gem of a person!!!! I have been consulting him for last 10 years for various issues. I have developed infection in my middle ear due to frequent flights. It led to travel anxiety. He encouraged me and his treatment was quite effective which helped to remove the inbuilt fear in me. My son have had frequent infections led by swimming which were cured by him. Unfortunately, my family got impacted during second wave of Covid last month. We were quite scared specially due to non-availability of any hospitals at that time. We consulted him immediately. Despite his extremely busy schedule, he was quite polite and attended to all of us in the family. He solved multiple queries. Each one of us had different symptoms and he customised the medication for all of us. We are all well now. Thanks to him again.

I really have a lot to say..maybe my words will not be enough to thank Dr Varun Gupta Sir who came as a Saviour into life of each and every person living in my Joint family. We are 8 people and all were suffering from COVID..I was in a situation of panic because except me everyone is a Senior Citizen in my Joint family ..To fight against COVID..you just need an extraordinary doctor and I got one..I got to know about Dr Varun through a friend of mine who was already taking his video consultation..Next day I also started consulting him for everyone in my Joint family & just because of his constant monitoring of patients (whether diabetic or non diabetic) , guidance , treatment and all time support we all have recovered. Since my dad is diabetic , his sugar level crossed 300 after dinner around 11:30 pm on 3/5/2021 when he was on steroids and I really got worried as the sugar level was really high & at the same time I texted Varun Sir & asked him about the concern..He said there is nothing to worry. Trust me when a Doctor says at midnight there is nothing to worry you can easily relax and sleep otherwise it could have been a situation of panic. This shows that a Great Doctor always stands by your side and is in touch with you all the times which is really important to keep the patient mentally strong. Varun Sir has always been friendly & polite to each one of us throughout. He will listen to all your problems very patiently & will answer each and every query you have. He was just like a pillar of strength for me in these difficult circumstances..His daily monitoring of everything minutely and prescribing medications according to it is what keeps the patient just healthy and mentally strong. He made us feel like we were not suffering from anything..such a flawless recovery treatment His staff is really very much supportive and whatever help you need , they are just a call away.
