Dighal village has a couple of wetlands around its periphery. The one near the toll plaza is larger than others. Many migratory birds halt here in November - January like Greylag goose, bar headed goose, northern pintails, knob billed ducks, Rudy shelduck and many more. Migratory birds can be seen in other wetlands in Dighal as well.
Is it still the same ? The wetland is highly polluted now and the people responsible have no idea what they are doing. Some people go there for defecation even. I saw some people doing commercial fishing in the wetland around a year ago. Kindly find ways to stop this.
Absolutely fantastic place for bird photography. Visited in the last week of September. Was surprised to see the variety of bird species. You may find it little difficult to reach this place and will need locals assistance to reach there.
Nice wetland to Click a wide variety of birds.
We were here on Big Bird Day. The locals thought we were builders and had come to survey the area. They seemed eager to sell off and destroy a precious wetland. Sadly, there is no one there to educate them and make them aware of the non-monetary riches they are surrounded by. When I spoke to some locals they seemed totally unaware of the huge variety of birds around. At the end of the day our team spotted more than 230 species of birds.
Great place for birders. Especially during the months of Nov-Feb, when migratory birds like the Bar-headed geese arrive. The many waterbodies near the Dighal Toll plaza is home to over 100 species. The village also has sugarcane processing units and a monument to Soldiers, apart from a couple of temples.
This hidden gem is a bird watchers paradise in Delhi NCR.
Usually dried up in summer Winters or rainy season is ideal to visit
