Found this lovely place recently when staying nearby in Ranthambore. I was intrigued by the signage and so pleased I took the time to visit. The owner and all the staff were most hospitable and helpful suggesting some items I might like but never pushy about buying. I ended up buying quite a few clothing items and can't wait to wear them back home in Australia.
We were lucky to spot the elusive tiger in Ranthambore, and yet, I must say that a visit to the new Dhonk location off the main road was my favorite experience at Ranthambore. Not only is the Dhonk story so inspiring (wildlife conservation, co-existence, sustainability and empowerment of local women), the products themselves are superlative. The block-print designs, the cotton fabric, the professional finish, the attention to detail, the attentive service, the zen-like space, all blew me away, so much so that I shopped for over 3 hours. I purchased bedspreads, table napkins, clothes for children and adults, bags, aprons, mitts...... They even ship internationally, and I am ready to order more items for the holidays. I had no time to eat at the cafe - but that's okay.
Apart from the wonderful collection of sustainable fashion and accessories we had our lunch in this cafe which has decorated aesthetically. The main attraction was our interaction with jamila Bano who cooked sumptuous meals for us. Food is fresh and tasty. It's a must visit if you are in Ranthambore.
On a recent flight back from Mumbai, I stumbled upon a documentary about tigers, a subject I'm deeply passionate about. As the documentary delved into Ranthambore, it highlighted the incredible work of Dhonk Crafts. Intrigued, I reached out to Divya, the founder, the very next day. From our hour-long conversation, it was evident how dedicated and passionate she is about empowering the local community through sustainable, nature-friendly means. Dhonk's range of products is not only exceptional in quality but also meaningful in purpose. Their organic cotton fabric, combined with exquisite block printing and embroidery work, is truly mesmerizing. What stood out for me was Divya's openness to customization. My order, which included hand-printed bed sheets, table covers, runners, T-shirts, shirts, and few beautifully embroidered tiger safari jacket, were tailored to my preferences. Some pieces even had double color blocks and personalized embroidery! Throughout our interactions, Divya and I also bonded over our shared love for wildlife and forests. If you're in Ranthambore, I'd urge you to visit Dhonk. And for anyone seeking unique upholstery, fabrics, or thoughtful Diwali gifts, Dhonk is a top recommendation! Highly satisfied and looking forward to my next order!
Poor service. Very slow service. Understaffed. Order was very late for us. There were literally not available. The person taking order got confused as to what the order was. Came 30 mins later to confirm whether it was cheese pizza or veg cheese pizza. Cafe people are also not that professional at their job. Mentioned items on the menu were also not available. People who came after us were given the same dish that we order 15mins earlier than them. If you have ample time to waste, then go here.
Dhonk Cafe should feature highly in your travel plans to Ranthambore, the Cafe is located next to Oberoi Vanyavilas near the main road. The Cafe is run by women of Mogiya community and they belong to the hunters community. The main focus of Divya Khandal the owner is to shift the mindset of the community slowly and gradually by means of providing alternative livelihood for their families. They specialize in Block Painting on different types of clothes and linen. There is a workshop right behind the Cafe where the customers can get to see their work. Get to know them better by visiting Dhonk Cafe Jamila Ji and Usha Ji will be more than happy to show you around.
The food was very good. The work of the craft center behind is commendable. The place is also very amazing. If you come to Ranthambore, you must definitely visit Dhonk.
Good place with both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambience is neat and cosy, ordered Lemon Tea and Bombay Masala sandwich, both were good and served on time.
