Today I had the privilege of being guided through Dharavi by Rajesh. It was a fantastic afternoon and Rajesh brought so much colour and life to the experience. Completely changed my perspective of what I imagined a slum to be. What I saw was an orderly, harmonious, industrious 'city' within a city. If you're in Mumbai it's a worthwhile couple of hours.

We did Dharavi Slum tour. It was the great tour. We saw many small scale industries, pottery, recycling of plastic and metal and many more places inside Dharavi. It was great experience with Mumbai City Tours and Travel.
This tour totally changed our view point of Dharavi, as what we hear and see on internet is not in real. Honestly untill and unless you do not meet this place in person, we can never understand their stronger sense of community and happiness that lays within their society. I wasn't sure what to expect but found this tour eye-opening. Our guide Rakesh was fantastic, putting us at ease, explaining what to expect and answering all our questions along the way. Dharavi is his home and it's amazing. To see how much industry there is, the organisation behind this 'city', and most importantly the people themselves. I left with utmost respect for people under adverse circumstances who find ways to make a living and do the best they can for their families and themselves. Definitely worth doing.
