HISTORY:- According to the mythological legend, it is said that once a thief stole a black calf and hid in a temple that was dedicated to Lord Shiva. Since the thief was hiding inside a temple, the local crowd couldn't dare to enter the temple and bring the thief outside and continued to wait for him outside. After long and continuous prayers by the thief, Lord Shiva took a form of a sage and saved the thief. When the crowd thought there was a black calf inside the temple, the sage went inside and brought back a white calf with him. When the thief realized that Lord Shiva himself came to the island to save him and disappeared after turning the black calf into a white one, he confessed to the locals about his crime and dedicated his life to worship Lord Shiva. Therefore, the temple is known as Dhabaleswar Temple and Lord Shiva is also known as Dhabaleswara.

Dhabaleswar Temple is a very famous Shiv temple in Odisha. Dhabaleswar temple is widely known for its past story of an amazing miracle. This place is very crowded in the odia month of Kartik Month. This temple is basically situated on an island on the Mahanadi River. You can find a hanging bridge there which connects both sides of the river and the temple side. But after a recent bridge tragedy on a hanging bridge in Gujrat this bridge is totally prohibited for people. After the Gujrat tragedy the MLA of this area Mr. Ranendra Pratap Swain built another norman bridge over the river. The people visited here in kartik month is almost 50k or over 50k per day. So if you want to avoid the crowd and to save your time you can visit here between 4 AM to 5 AM in the morning. You can get peace and mental strength after visiting this place because this place is very very devotional. May this information help you a little. A must visit place from my side.
