New place in town just opposite to Besant Nagar Beach. This place is a new Venture by the Delhi Highway Restaurant. Really enjoyed my time at this place. A cozy rooftop ambiance with a sea view as well as a AC dining. The starters were good, i would recommend naram dil kebab and paneer tikka platter. In mains, Rajma and Shahi paneer was my best pick. The only improvement i suggest for main course would be the a larger portion size. The desserts were also delectable, I recommend moong dal halwa and gulab jamun. Overall a decent place to enjoy with your friends and family.
The place is just adjacent to Thiruvanmiyur beach barely 100 m.I went on holiday for lunch, the ambience is simple, subtle, relaxing, nice music ,not much crowded. Food is great,a bit on the expensive side as any veg gravy will start from 280-350 but the food is worth the money.Perfectly cooked with just right amount of spices. Only demerit i found is that the options were really limited, maybe they can work on that little. Overall a good experience. For 4 people,it cost us 4200 rs with starters main course everything.
Dhaatu - The Indian Bistro has recently opened their outlet in Besant Nagar, Chennai. What is special about this place? First & foremost, the beach. It is hardly 200 meters from this place. You can take a walk from the beach and reach this beautiful restaurant. Secondly, the set up. It has a dual set up. One on the second floor with air conditioner & one on the Top Floor which is open. During evening/night, candle light dinner is served. With beach view on the vicinity, what more could you ask for? I was impressed with the paintings(which is featured here). The restaurants has a seating capacity of 80 pax. 3 cars can be parked easily. Courteous staffs. What did I order? Starters: Non-Veg lamb, whole spices, saffron soup Dhai Bhalla Papdi Chat Acharia Paneer Tikka Platter Charcoal Mushrooms Chicken Tikka Platter Blueberry drink Main Course: Jeera Rice Roti/Naan (Garlic/Butter & Kulcha) with Chicken/Lamb gravy Delhi Special Sweet Lassi About the food: I was stumped by the soup. It is unbelievably the best & can say with confidence that I never had such a soup in my lifetime. Other dishes I would recommend would be Paneer which is so fresh & soft. Mushroom is something that had captured my tastebuds. It made my brother in law to comment that, "If I'm getting such tasteful dishes in Veg, I would very well forego non-Veg". Naan were at its usual best and so as the chicken/lamb gravy. Each one offered a unique taste which cannot be captured in words. To end it up, we had tasty gulab jamuns and Delhi special Sweet Lassi. My Verdict : Do not miss this restaurant, if you're in Besant Nagar. It is good for get together with your family members, friends and colleagues.
If you're craving for some really good North Indian food then this place is definitely for you. A place with nice ambience suitable to both couples as well as group. You can enjoy the fresh breeze while having the best food. One should definitely try their paneer kulchas. They are hands down the best that I ever had here in Chennai. Extremely friendly staff, they help you decide what to eat and ask about the food after every serving. 10/10 would go again.
This dining space has a rooftop as well as indoor option. We opted the rooftop, which was quite good with candle light ambience!!! The food was tasty and quantity was on a medium portion on what we ordered. We tried out 1. Cheesy Potato starter 2. Delhi Special Laasi 3. Panner/ mix veg kulcha / plain naan/ butter naan 4. Veg aandhi saabzi We loved all the food items taste. Not to forget, the service in the restaurant, it was simply superb. Though it's on higher side of cost. It's worth visiting with either family/friends.
Dhaatu - The Indian Bistro is conveniently located close to Elliot's Beach with a sea view from the second floor. Limited parking is available for 4 wheelers though the roadside has ample parking. The restaurant has two floors, one on the first floor has A/C and the roof top restaurant - the Sea View of-course. We were a couple so decided to share the soups. We had the Guchhi& Cream soup - had mushrooms and fresh cream. The flavours were quite subtle but quite creamy and delicious. The other soup was the Lamb, whole spices, saffron soup which had a very flavourful broth though a bit on the spicier side with well cooked pieces of mutton. As a mocktail we had the Kala Khatta Mojito which was tangy, spicy mix with the hit of Chaat powder and quite good. For starters we had the Tandoori Chicken Tikka platter which had a mix of Hariyali Kabab, Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Chicken. These were well marinated and grilled to perfection and presented quite beautifully. Followed by the Naram Dill Kabab which was soft paneer and cheese patties, crispy with corn-flake coating. It was truly a wonderful dish. For the main course we had the Bhuna Jinga - nice sized prawns cooked in a blend of onion, tomatoes and spices. Murg Kada Masala and Ghost Dum Biriyani. All three were a bit spicy. Also had the Lacha Paratha and a wonderful creamy Delhi Special Lassi to close the proceedings in style. We were too stuffed to finish at the end. The service was quite good and the waitstaff were knowledgeable about the menu and quite helpful.
A must visit place if u want to dine by the beach & u also get a variety fof chat items. Try lamb whole spice saffron soup, tandoori Fish, tandoori chicken platter(which has 3 types of chicken-tandoori tikka, argan chicken & pesto chicken), Rongan hosh(which tender mutton) & Murgh kebab which goes good with garlic nan & wheat paratha, Final touch with Delhi lassi. Should appreciate the friendly approach of the staff and the pleasant ambience surrounded by the greenary and the sea view and the presentation of the food.
Dhaatu, a fine dining rooftop restaurant has opened their doors Jus 50 metres from the Besant Nagar Beach. The cuisine included a fusion of North Indian dishes and additionally some Chinese starters as well. Highlights of my dinner included the Panner Tikka Platter, Lotus stem, Gol Gappe, Rajma Pathankot and Achari Tawa ending with a hot delicious Gulab Jamun P. S. A rooftop dinner would be super ideal if you're looking for a special candle light dinner facing the seaside
