Devi Singh Ghat is a beautiful and historic place located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in Tezpur, Assam, India. It is a popular tourist spot for both locals and tourists. The ghat is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery, or to take a boat ride on the Brahmaputra River. The ghat is also a popular spot for photography and bird watching. The ghat was named after Devi Singh, a government employee who was responsible for lighting a lamp on a rock in the middle of the Brahmaputra River during British rule. The lamp was used to guide ships and boats navigating the river at night. The ghat is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery, or to take a boat ride on the Brahmaputra River. The ghat is also a popular spot for photography and bird watching. I visited Devi Singh Ghat on a recent trip to Tezpur and I was very impressed. The ghat is a beautiful place with stunning views of the river and the surrounding countryside. I would definitely recommend visiting Devi Singh Ghat if you are ever in Tezpur. Here are some pros and cons of Devi Singh Ghat: **Pros: * Stunning views of the Brahmaputra River * Popular spot for picnics and other outdoor activities * Historic significance **Cons: * Can be crowded during peak tourist season * No shade, so it can be hot during the day * No facilities, so you will need to bring your own food and water Overall, I would give Devi Singh Ghat a 4 out of 5 stars. It is a beautiful and historic place that is sure to offer you a memorable experience.
Very nice place and a picnic spot for enjoyment. Devi Singh Ghat is a widely known tourist spot with incredible scenic beauty by the bank of the mighty Brahmaputra River near the city of Tezpur. During Britsh Rule, there was an employee of the British government named Devi Singh whose duty was to light a lamp on a rock in the middle of the river Brahmaputra. The 'Ghat' was named Devi Singh Ghat in his memory. It is one of the most beautiful sunset spots across Assam. It is also a popular picnic spot. As a resident of Tezpur, I used to visit the place regularly. I feel immense pleasure when visiting the ghat keeping myself away from the mechanical life. But the fast soil erosion by the river here becomes a great threat to the old-aged heritage spot. For the last two years, a large area has been gobbled up by the mighty Brahmaputra. Their bank looks like beach.
This location is my favorite hangout / go to spot. Whoever visited this place once will forever cherish it. This is the place where you can sit, relax and connect to nature and then you realize that life becomes so much easier and burden free. Must visit place In the town. Nature lover like me shouldn't miss any chance to discover this place. Have a great time people.
Loved it! Best place to chill and relax with your friends and close ones! You can admire the beautiful Brahmaputra river! Small area but it's worth visiting! If you are in Tezpur don't miss it!
For photographing the sunset over the Brahmaputra - this ghat is wonderful! However, I do wish people would keep the place cleaner. Come on people... Why do you need to throw your trash all around? It ruins the overall feel and it's not good for the environment. Anyway, there is a solitary bench to enjoy the sunset. You can walk down to the water from the left over piled up sacks. A very calm atmosphere. Enough space to park your car right there.
I was born in Tezpur , But up until i was 26 years old, i didn't know this place existed . This is one of the best finds for me . It is one of the best places to go in the evening and enjoy the sunset in Tezpur. And boy are the sunsets amazing , Point is you have to be lucky to reach the sunset point at the right time.
An awesome place at Tezpur. Nestled along the untamed river brahmaputra , devi singh ghat is a petite place situated in the Sonitpur district of assam. Located around a distance of 10 kilometers from Tezpur town. It is one of the most visited weekend getaways from Tezpur where the river and wonderful views draws people there. Specially in the month of December and January a lot group's come up here for picnic.
