A very good place for a quick visit. The ancient temples and the rocky river create a surreal vibe. Not very far from Purulia town. Temples are time tested. Timeless. Awesome.
Ancient temple just beside the river Kangsabati. Temples are from the Sen or Pal dynasty of Bengal, as heard of. The place is not maintained by the government though. Can be visited if you are interested in old structures.
Deulghat, a place near Boram in Arsha PS. It has the ruins of 15 temples near the Kansai River. The stucco decoration is the notable architecture made on the temple. The entrances of those temples are entangled with the branches of trees, casting an eerie. However, these temples are representations of the age, when they were built. The excellent skills are evident in the wreckage of the temples and idols reflect strong evidence of SEN & PAL empires. Moreover, the temples adorned with graceful carve attracts visitors, and hence are important in the tourism of Purulia.
Ruins of beautiful ancient temples at Boram besides of Kanshaboti river. Nice for a day trip.
The ruins of Deulghata is a wonderful terracotta architecture probably of the 9th century that was damaged and rebuilt by Jains as per their customs. The original terracotta architecture is visible at the top of the temples and many broken limestone sculptures are scattered here and there. We heard about a limestone sculpture of lord Ganesh which was thrown in the banks of Kangshbati river situated adjacent to the temples. We request the Archaeological Society of India to come forward and protect this heritage.
Relics of temples erected by Pal and Sen dynasties. These heritage monuments are not maintained properly. Very neglected by the tourism industry of West Bengal. Need more attention by the govt. to make it more popular among the tourists.
3 ancient temples are situated in this calm and cool place. These age old temples are rich in history, constructed during the Pal and Sen Empire period. These temples are on the bank of the Kangsabati / Kansai river. These temples are made with brick, having Deul architecture style with stucco decoration. The first temple is 60 ft tall. This place can be easily visited along with murguma dam. For transportation, you have to arrange your own vehicle either personal or in rent. Nearby, Kansai river is a must visit for some amazing view.
Very nice place. Here you will see very ancient temple. Many claim these temples as Buddhist temples. But now the temples are worshiped as temples of Lord Shiva. Many temples are facing destruction due to lack of renovation.
