Such a beautiful place but it's a tip! You should visit it in the Winter season as there's no place to have shade underneath during rain or heat waves! Overall a great place to enjoy the scenic beauty! Except for that you'll get a shot at the entry gate and you can buy food and soft drinks there.
Present at the lungs of Bhubaneswar, it is a very scenic natural place surrounded by forests. It has a path to trail around, boating & safari facilities, forest stay houses & a dedicated picnic area. It's preferred to travel during monsoon/winters early morning or in late afternoon for the best experience. Entry tickets price/fee are very minimal Rs40 or Rs20 each if having student ID & other extra facilities can be availed/checked out at the ticket counter only. Earlier own vehicles were maybe allowed inside after buying vehicle tickets but currently they aren't allowing to let travellers vehicles in! The area needs much more improvement & development to attract more travellers. Alas this place is good to travel if you're fed up with daily chaos and want to have some peace & fun with friends/families at least for a few hours!
A very silent and cozy place to chill relax and enjoy. You can do good pictures, here motor boating and peacocks can also be seen here etc. Entry fee is 50 rupees but if you are student you can be discounted on ticket also boating price is 900 rupees which is fixed and at a time 10 people can do boating. The best time to go is in the evening
Such an amazing place. True definition of Orissa India's best kept secret.... Don't miss the boat ride
One of the must visit place in Bhubaneswar. It's just 1 hour from city. Must try the boat ride. Enjoy the sunset.
Visited the Chandaka Dumpada Wildlife sanctuary - and walked across the Deras Dam on a two hour safari. (Best to bring cash - they do not accept cards at the gate)Very nice family outing with vast open vista's and got to see a male elephant, Chital stag, langurs and lots of birds. Will definitely visit again when in Bhubaneshwar.
Deras Dam is a nice getaway from the hustling life of Bhubaneswar. It's noisefree, open, wide & vast. You'll instantly fall in love if you like unpolluted water bodies & hence it makes Deras an ideal Picnic Spot. Keep in mind that it's a protected area under Chandaka Forest Reserve so Picnic inside the campus is prohibited & so is burning a Fire. There's a designated place for picnics outside the gate in case you really wish to. In case you're a Bachelor, you might prefer visiting the other Dam nearby that doesn't have any entry fee & offers a much better view. However, Deras is relatively safe since Forest officials are neaby in case of a mishap. Entry Fee - rs60/person Other Attraction - Boating
It is a peaceful place for nature lovers. The most beautiful sunset in the city chaos is in Deras. It's a picnic spot and an adventurous place with a beautiful lake. Boating is available for witnessing the beauty of the lake. But before the darkness one should return back because of the nuisance or for any wild animal. There is an entry fee of rs 40 for Indians and if student ID is provided the entry fee is rs 20 ( fee may change). This place is a must visit.
