Visited for the first time this forest. This forest has excellent biodiversity. There are many plants and birds species and heaven for botany lovers.Wonderland for the wildlifer Dehing Patkai is the only patch of virgin rainforest in Assam, it holds an astounding diversity of mammals, birds, reptiles and butterflies. So its a wonderful place to visit if you have an interest in any of the above. Mostly frequented by bird watchers and butterfly chasers you wont be disappointed by the place. You can live in Digboi and explore this place else try to get into the FD guest house Go early in the day and come back by evening. The sun set across the river during sunset is amazing. Untouched beauty.

Dehing Patkai National Park is one one the most famous national park of Assam. I loved the place . Its tropical grasslands, forests, bio diversity. apart from these you can also witness and one horned rhinos , Tiger, elephant, buffalo, deer etc.

This was at the Soraipong Range. It was good for birding. We went on a cycling trip across Assam covering all the National Parks and a few heritage sites. This was the last part on our route. The people and the forest department personnels were really good and helpful. Since this is a newly declassified National Park, there's still a lot to be done for tourists, like safari and all are not available at the moment but you can bring your personal vehicle to enter the forest with permission. We had a small trek with a forest guard. Lots of elephants and birds there.

Dehing Patkai National park is one and only Rain forest of Assam, elephant, hollock gibbon, and various species of butterfly are available here.

It's a rain forest

The only rainforest in Assam, Dihing Patkai is located partly in Dibrugarh and partly in Tinsukia district. It is the one of the tropical wet evergreen forest.The most common mammal species of this sanctuary are gibboon , Pig,langur, elephant,Bengal tiger, leopard etc.And this rainforest harbours abhout various types of birds also.
