Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital (DDU) formerly known as Ripon Hospital is a Zonal hospital in Shimla city. It is located in the city center above Old Bus Stand and below Lower Bazaar. Its one entrance is from Ram Bazaar another is from Ganj and downside entrance is near Old Bus Stand. The hospital provides healthcare facilities to the city residents. Latest health and medical facilities can be availed in the hospital. The hospital was proposed by Lord Ripon, former viceroy of India and its construction began in 1882. It was opened at 14 May 1885 by Lord Duffrin. The hospital building was designed by Henry Irvin and it is one of the historical landmarks in Shimla.

Its a very bad experience on 22june23 there is lady doctor in 106 room . If you not handle the patient then don't goto hospital. They enjoy their party there . They have no sense to talk patience if we know all the things then why we go there. Never recommended and to health department don't hire this type of doctors they are not god they are evil. Worst experience ever.

Worst hospital in Shimla in july 2023 i came across experience when my friend suggested me for treatment of my son medicine opds are located in old building somes blood test advised by dr and bad experience starts after that there is room no 6 where 4 person cannot stand comfortably after waiting for long time madam asked me go to room no201 which is located at new building. In rain I went there I saw its also a small cabin and not enough space for patients and attendents totally feeling suffocation No exoist fan no ventilation madam gave me tubes and form and asked me to stamp the same at 213 and then 301 then go to room no 6 I mean to say totally mismanagement New building is a piece of engineering where is no proper vantilation no proper waiting areas no Benches in front of cash counters and registration counter even that difficult to find toilets and stairs and lifts

Very good reception. Good staf all things are very quick and reliable. Doc and nursing staff was also very polite. My experience was well balanced.

A well known hospital named, Deen Dayal Upadhaya Hospital is in Shimla in Himachal Pradesh state. All major medical facility are available here. The entire officer and chief doctors as CMO, Sr Medical Officer, Dist. Health Officer, Dist Aids Officer and Leprosy Officer are sitting here for your health response. Facility are good but some of doctors and Junior resident doctor are not behaving properly which is not good sign for doctor's profession.

The lady in the blood test counter on 1 july 2023 is very rude . Atleast talk politely with the patient if you can't solve their problem.

New infrastructure but poor caretakers. Irresponsible staff. Doctors does not visit twice in the ward, no one will see the patients on Sundays. It's a task to find a nurse in the wards, it took 4 hours for a patient to find the nurse as he was sobbing because of pain. Toilets are as dirty as it could be and sweepers only cleans floors. Water supplies are not managed properly, in my case it's day 3 and water is coming only for 4-5 hours a day, and no one listens to the complaints. Good part Food is good, and it's the only thing here that is punctual.
