Dakshin, Sheraton New Delhi - Restaurant in New Delhi - South, India

With restraunt of this Grade (being part of famed Sheraton), the thing that drives you to it is, not just a singular item, but a collective experience of Food, Ambience, Culture, Service to name some. Unfortunately service was a BIG let down. To start with, even in OFF peak hour, we were not introduced about the entire variety of Menu and it was left upon us to dig that from service boy. Funny part ~ i realised that they have a physical menu too while billing. As a part of Thali, we had to ourself remind the person about the desert being part of it. On positive side - Their menu is quite extensive covering all the Major dishes from all our beloved Souther States. Taste is bit on blanded side(may be to cater multi - national customers).

I went for dinner with two friends and we took the the large thaly with 13+dishes. All really good. The dishes comes in small portions but you could repeat the dishes you liked. Ee didn't because we were already full with the basis! Dessert also very good. A zafferan mousse with a coconut pudding. Overall we spend for 3 a bit less than 100euro with a cocktail each. Maybe expensive for delhi but considering location and quality it was worthy. Personnel was also super kind and friendly and they explained every dish.

Sunday lunch at Dakshin was an overall pleasant experience with great ambiance and courteous servers in semi-traditional clothes. The menu sports dishes from 4 Southern states of kerala, tamil nadu, andhra pradesh and karnataka. That itself is an education for those who club all as South Indian. We decided to go with the sampoorna veg and non veg thali. Started off with papad and crisps.. with 4 chutneys and one special cabbage chutney. Appetizers masala vada, sweet and savory pancakes and rasam. Marinated dry fish.. Liked the courses being served. The actual thali was overwhelming with chicken, mutton, fish, shrimp, and many veg curries and assortment of rice and biryani. Would have preferred slow servings. Sweet dishes had choices, and we took badaam halwa and basundi. Last topped off with beeda. Filter coffee was awesome.. One needs to come with a serious appetite to fully enjoy the experience..

Excellent service. Fresh top notch food. The steamed fish was fantastic! Fresh fish! The desserts were outstanding! The appam and malabar parotha The shrimp Kerala style was incredible!

Dakshin has beautiful traditional portion of south india, they serve mostly the dishes representing the authentic cuisine of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The overall presentation for serving the food was so amazing and lavish.

We had an amazing time celebrating a birthday at Dakshin. The food was absolutely amazing and authentic south indian food. Also the chef and stuff are super friendly. Would definitely come again!

It was very delicious food I've ever ate, Very nice surroundings, A peace manner and many more people can enjoy very nicely.
