Dakshin Restaurant - Kerala restaurant in Secunderabad - Hyderabad, India

The service and our server Debasis was absolutely fantastic. The food is always memorable and authentic. The decor however, left much to be desired, a coffee shop feel to such an exquisite palette. IMHO order as many kebabs you can, the main course - while delicious doesn't compare to the burst of flavors each kebab has. A gem.

Extremely overpriced. Ordered kerala sadhya with fish curry. Got the fish curry almost at the end of the meals. Just by seeing the menu you may understand the level of extremity in pricing.

This rating is purely based on my visit to the restaurant.I would surely not make a visit to this restaurant again for the following reasons appended below: (1) Please refer the menu card which l have uploaded to authenticate my reasons for my rating. We ordered Mini meals limited thali which costed Rs70/- mainly because the items mentioned in this particular dish we're very appealing and mouth watering.The items in this thali included the following (a) 1 bowl of white rice (b) 1 bowl of red rice (c) 1 bowl of flavoured rice (d) Pickle (e) Curd chilly (f) Veg curry (g) Sambar (h) Rasam (i) Toran (j) Appam or Parotta (k) Papad (l) Raita or Curd As per this list of items in their menu, a total of 12 items were to be served in this thali to the guests. NOTE: We pointed our finger on the item to be ordered while mentioning it to the waiter apart from telling him the name of the dish verbally. Surprisingly when the waiter placed the ordered thali on the table,there were hardly any items included as mentioned in the menu. I enquired the same from the waiter to which he answered ( Madam we don't have the thali which you ordered) Under the circumstances the basic ettiquette was to inform us that the thali which we ordered is not available rather than getting a thalli which we did not order. Even if we give a concession that it was a mistake on the part of the waiter in taking the order, lwould still like to highlight and stress upon the point that the thali which he ultimately served us was of a higher price Rs90/- ,SO LOGICALLY SINCE THE COST IS MORE,THE ITEMS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE THAN THE ONE WHICH WE ORDERED WHICH COSTED ONLY RS 70/-. But shockingly the items served in the thali were just (a)A very watery Rasam (b)Sambar (c)Toran (d) Pickle (e)Papad (f)Aloo curry (g) A bowl of plain white rice (h) Just 2 Table spoons of curd which can be seen in the uploaded image. There was no Parotta or Appam in the plate.Just a bowl of over cooked white rice. Now in view of the above l would like to stress upon the following points: (1) Did not serve what we ordered. (2) Secondly the dish which we were served costed more than what we ordered hence should have had more number of items than the one we ordered as per the cost but it was quite the opposite. Leave alone giving more items ,the items mentioned in the menu were also not served.Avial,theeyal,curd chilly etc were all missing despite being mentioned in the menu card.ANY KERALA THALI HAS AVIAL ,NO MATTER HOW SMALL A RESTAURANT AND SURPRISINGLY THIS WAS AN AC KERALA RESTAURANT. (3) When enquired about the same they had nothing to say.They had no answer to any of our queries.Except that when l literally measured those 2 table spoons of curd served to me ,they got me a small katori of curd. (4) AC was not switched on despite being so hot.There we're all together 3 AC's and none of them were switched on.I had to pick them off on not switching on the AC. TO RAP IT UP: Any Keralite would visit a kerala restaurant to have kerala dishes and not just a South Indian dish which was missing in this restaurant.MOST IMPORTANTLY MISGUIDING THE GUESTS WITH FALSE MENU'S WHICH DO NOT EXIST AT ALL IS MORALLY VERY,VERY WRONG. IT BASICALLY AMOUNTS TO CHEATING THE GUESTS ( Showing/ mentioning something in the Menu which is not served to the guests ). Lastly not switching on the AC despite being an AC Restaurant until they are told to switch it on. THIS FEEDBACK WAS NOT TO BRING DOWN THEIR BUSINESS BUT TO MAKE THE OWNERS OF THE RESTAURANT REALIZE THAT WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS WRONG THAT THEY SHOULD BRING ABOUT POSITIVE CHANGES WHICH WILL IN TURN WILL FLOURISH THEIR BUSINESS IN A LONG RUN. HOPE TO SEE POSITIVE CHANGES IN FUTURE ! THANK YOU!

Venture into the Kerala style cooking is just awesome. This place serves popular South Indian style cooked non veg and breads. You might not always walk away happy but still will be satisfied every time. Staff is friendly. Service may take some time if they are burdened with work which I think is due to lack of kitchen staff. Otherwise it's an awesome place to visit. Always carry cash or be ready to use paytm here just in case the card machine doesn't work.

I was there for 4 years in Kerala coz of my work so I am very much aware about the taste of kerala food. This place I found not up to the mark when it comes for the Kerala food as suggested By their name. Been love of kerala biryani so ordered from this place but to my bad luck it was not at all like Kerala birayani. Chicken piece was sooo dry and bad that didn't felt to ate the same and after that never tried from this place.

Before it was kerla kitchen and food was awsum, thinking that we visited kerla kitchen( present darshini) which was the worst experience in my life fish served was burnt, appam was dried up and fish curry was full of bitter and no at all edible. I think that kerla kitchen has sold this resturesta to someone else and they are not Kerala food . I got irritated by this food, please don't visit this restaurant

Worst food and ambience. We ordered fish fry and prawns. We got food totally burnt and completely oil fried. Even the guy who is serving accepted that they use Palm Oil. You come here, eat unhealthy food and also pay for it. Then when asked about the high price, they blame it on us saying how could you start eating the burnt food. I would never recommend this to anyone.
