It's really a majestic fall. The viewpoint actually shows the fall's journey from its origin to destination.
Moreover, if it's raining during your visit, it'll add even more beauty to it.
The only painful part is the road to the falls. It's broken at a lot of places and rocky too. But yeah, worth the effort.
On that visit, though my interaction with the locals was mostly a few keywords and a lot of hand gestures, a whole lot was learnt that day about Khasi culture, tradition and beliefs. I was also there because I was almost obsessed with U-Thlen. I needed to know things. On that rainy afternoon, crouched near the fireplace at my host's ultra tiny kitchen, I learned about U-Thlen or The Thlen, the evil serpent that terrorised the locals to no end.
Dainthlen Falls is a very beautiful place. We visited it in April when the water was low, and there were fewer tourists. The crystal clear waters were flowing gently, cascading down below. After descending, I realized that I was standing at the foot of a massive stone mountain.
The place is nice, not congested but now there is some issues between the neighbouring villages so didn't allowed to stay for longer time there(suggested by a policeman there). But nearby this place there are so many waterfall you can visit on the way back from this palce towards Shilong. But worth to go and no entry fee required. The police constables who protected the area were so helpful and guided the place which we can visit nearby. Also want to suggest to plan with the driver and choose an experience driver if you are new in Meghalaya. I went with a driver from Guwahati since we he was new and he didn't know about the area (I come to know letter) so I wasted almost half a day and letter with the Google search and guidance from local people I enjoyed the trip for rest of the day. Dainthlen Falls is an amazing Waterfalls in Cherrapunje. We stayed at Homestay where we can have the view of the waterfall. We were not able to go close to the waterfall as the roads were close. But it's a must Visit place if you are in Cherrapunje.
Good experience. Be careful while going to the falls. Have a parking fee. No fee for entrance. Try to visit after July. You can swim in the fresh water. But be careful.
You can visit this waterfall right before heading to wei sawdong waterfall, which by the way is the major tourist attraction spot. If you are lucky you will not find anyone here at Dainthlen falls and you can enjoy the peace and calmness here. As you are on top of the waterfall, you can do your feet in the cool water and sit and relax. Please avoid standing near the railing that has an opening.
