One of the best places near dalhousie. It's a small trek with a climb at the start and beautiful views at the temple at the end. About 1.3 kms long walk to the temple at the end. One could easily spend 4-5 hours enjoying views along the way and the panoramic views from the peak. Way is well marked and paved.
The views from the Peaks were mesmerizing, Must visit place in Dalhousie. 2 km easy trek from parking. Mata pohlani temple at the peak is also a good point to relax. You can see Manimahesh peak, paragliding spot from there by telescope (20 rs). Kids should be in warm clothes as the wind is very chilly on the trek.
In short, an amazing experience. The trail is paved and stairs are constructed from the very beginning. The Himachal government is finishing up the pavement work till the last meter (temple). The first 10 - 15 minutes are tough and then the trail starts getting easier. The views are stunning and it ends at the Goddess Kali temple. There is a viewpoint at the temple pointing towards mount Kailash. On the trail, sometimes you will be walking through the clouds. It is recommended to carry a rain jacket and equip with non-skid anklet shoes and good supply of drinkable water. The trail may not be suitable or very tiring for people with lung or breathing issues but it's worth a try.
Trek of 1.5 km out of which 500 meters is stiff climb and then a km walk. Get to see scenic views en route. If the weather is clear one can see kailash mountain range from there.
We recently visited Dainkund peak during our trip to Dalhousie. It's a wonderful place with scenic beauty. We followed the trek from Paloni Mata Mandir to Jot pass. One of the best trek ever. The place is worth visiting. There are lot of breathtaking & amazing views on this route. We had incredible experience on this trek.... Strongly recommend
Dainkund Peak height is approx 9300 feet. From here you can see a 360 degree view of Dalhousie. The trek is around 800 meter which is very steep and then after, it's 900 meters almost flat. On top, there is a temple of Mata Pohlani. The whole route is very picturesque. It seems like one is walking in cloud. Must visit.
Best time to visit dainkund is December to March. Tracking is very easy and cinematographic view is mind blowing. Mahakali mataji template is fully covered with snow in January. Morning time would be more convenient for Tracking
Amazing view point for a sunset with a 360 degree view of the mountains. The Pir pranjal range of Himalayas are visible on one side . Gets really cold up there so be sure to carry a jacket.
