Da Parbatia Temple - Hindu temple in Tezpur - Sonitpur, India

Da Parbatia is a small village very close to west Tezpur, in the Indian State of Assam. In the village there are significant architectural remnants of an ancient temple of the 6th century overlying the ruins of another Shiva temple built of bricks during the Ahom period.

Though at first glance one feels letdown seeing the temple, a closer look gets one amazed... The free standing Door frame found at the Dah Parvatiya is from a temple complex built during the 5th or 6th century of which only the plinth and a few stone blocks remain... The figurines of the ruins are similar to those seen in North Indian temples and the stone being granite, the details seen in the miniature carvings are amazing. The dating is based on the carvings of the river Goddesses Ganga and Yamuna at the two bases of the door frame..,

Beautiful place in Tezpur to visit. Entry is free.... beautifully maintained...

Situated at Tezpur and good for history lovers . It's also a place for worship.

One of the India's second gate is at Dah parbatia also known as Dah Parbatia Temple which is situated in the village of Dah Parbatia...few kilometres from the city in the west of the city tezpur....people can reach this historical site by roads railways and airways... The view is great and it is surrounded by greenery....

It's a park with a place of worship. There are boards stating it's historical importance but otherwise it's pretty passable. Not worth going so far.
