The automation system at Phase II is now designed with state-of-the-art instrumentation and programmable logic controller to monitor and control the various parameters for the safe and efficient operation of HSPM & Pickling Line Key safety features implemented in the expansion of Phase II includes; Coil placement is allowed only if no persons are present within the dangerous area, Positioning interlocking, Process safety interlocks controlled through PLC, Hard wired emergency stop switches in control room & in the field for quick isolation / stoppage of equipment, Tail catcher at the exit side of Pickling Line against recoiler mandrel to restrict uncoiling at the end and separate pup-coil removal system for HSPM Some of the other features of phase II are; installation of long travel intra bay transfer car & two interbay transfer cars for smooth transferring of coils without much interfacing of cranes and optimum use of storage areas; Optimum use of available space for keeping both inventory and dispatch for one & half days, Layout has been optimized to retain and provide as much as greenery to the plant by providing all required facilities along with keeping the existing practice of unidirectional logistics.
