Craft Village in Ahmedabad is a craft oasis in concrete jungle ! Designed and crafted beautifully to give a fillip to traditional & exquisite craft arts of India. The place is aesthetically designed and must visit place if you are art and craft conscious. Please note, it is not a public place so make sure you make prior appointment for visit.
It has been one of the best experiences of my life, it is the only place in Delhi, NCR where I can learn pottery, ceramic, textiles, and most of the crafts from across the India. The residential facility is amazing and one can stay and learn and attend various workshops in Art, Design and Crafts. If you are a designer, artists or a crafts person, its a must visit place!
One of the most unique ideas ever seen, if you are an artist designer or an artisan than its must visit for you! For others it's a mecca of learning Art, Craft and Design be it school children, be it a college graduate or a school teacher, design student or teacher or a home maker, working professional, plenty of learning opportunities for them!
Small place, not a village, just an empty farmhouse with much to do. Also, it is in way way beyond any public transport connectivity. Cuisines from all around India were promised on " international craft " festival. All we got was overpriced paav bhaji and bhatura channa. Art k naam pr kuch bhi? Rude organiser. Wastage of time. For art lovers, indian heritage lies in streets, not in overpriced pathetic places.
A lush cultural oasis of craft in New Delhi. A beautiful venue where one can discover exceptional international & Indian craft . They also present the worlds 5th craft week - India Craft Week which is an annual international quality craft show in the country.
If world comes to India it is for Taj Mahal and it's rare crafts and surely Craft VIllage is destination you can't miss. The only place in India for Craft Workshops, Craft Training and Documentation and Craft linked Innovation and Design development. Crafts has been so far neglected and it was imperative that an organisation should come forward and connect dots between young and old, tradition with modernity and urban with rural talent and diaspora of things text of India does on sustainable culture. Craft Village has truly brought that focus back of what a craft can mean in true sense away from penury. It is object of desire and aspiration that millions of Craftsman have created with their passion, love, dedication and devotion!
I had attended the workshop on sculptures last weekend. Nothing was planned. No material was supplied as indicated in the workshop brochure. It was Level 0 workshop. We were given clay and plaster-of-paris to play and waste our time. No knowledge of tool was given. The teacher was good, but he was not planning the workshop. We were given Clay on the first day and we were just keep working on clay for the whole day. Next day was a plaster-of-paris cast and the tools given to us was of wood crafting. No sculpturing tools were provided. The third day was icing on the top.... we were looking at each other and wondering what to do next... No wood/ no wax/nothing else. So we were blowing balloons and collecting leaves, etc to waste the paster-of-paris which suddenly arrived on the third day after a shortage on the second day. In the end, we had a certificate distribution ceremony and we head back home with a great disappointment. The coordinator had so many excuses for not supplying the material. They were no prepared for the workshop. They were planning for material on the day of the workshop and putting many excuses for not supplying any material to us. No wood, No wax...leave aside any other material. They charge huge from us 6000 for 3 days. According to me, it was NO VALUE FOR MONEY. Only if you wanted to waste your money please enroll for their programs. I had wasted my MONEY and TIME. I should have better donate my money to charity then go wasted my money and time to this place. VERY POOR. I had wasted my MONEY and TIME. It was a NO SHOW... Don't follow the good and very good experience reviews as they are themselves associated with this org.
I had amazing experience there and looking forward to another visit. Highly recommended to everyone especially those love art and craft.
