Commune18 - Resort hotel in Lakya, Churchugudde Kaval - Chikkamagaluru, India

We were in the Superior Double Room. The room itself is pretty good. Everything looks new and well maintained including the bed sheets, the comforter and pillows. Although the couch was dirty. The TV in room works on wifi, so if you have hotstar/prime/Netflix accounts you can watch all your shows. But you would have to login with your own accounts. Wifi works pretty ok. We watched some YouTube on TV for some time and it was fine. Don't know if it's good for work from home or other things. The property is well done and maintained. The staff is courteous and service is good. The whole place has a peaceful vibe and I really loved that. Food is pretty good but portions are small and very expensive. The pool looks well maintained and clean, but I couldn't see any filtration system. So am not sure how they maintain their water? I didnt get in the pool, as it was cold. But the biggest negative is its location. It's 20 mins out of the city of chikmaglur in the opposite direction of all tourist attractions(so to speak). So for any spot you want to visit, add another 20 mins to the drive/journey. All in all a good place, but I won't come back here unless it's the only place left. I saw a lot of Homestays on the Budanagir road and in that area near coffee plantations and mountains. I would probably go there next time. Both for proximity and cost. Overall, for the location, I felt the rooms were a bit over priced. Seeing as even breakfast was not included in the package.

The Commune 18 resort/hostel in Chikmagalur is a mixed bag. Nestled in a remote location, it boasts spacious rooms. We booked beds in their female dorm. The rooms were well lit and well maintained. However for the 2 nights that we stayed there, the room was not cleaned by the house keeping despite OF several complaints at the the reception. Additionally unlike other hostel, there's no age limit in the shared dorms, so expect to bunk with people of all ages and even with kids. Food at the resort is rather average, with prices on the high side and small portions. Their strict policy against outside food can be inconvenient. The breakfast lacks variety and comes at a steep cost of around 350 per person, which doesn't quite justify the expense. It's advisable to dine at the city center for more affordable options. The redeeming quality of this place is its ambiance, providing a peaceful atmosphere. However, it's located far from major tourist attractions. It is also challenging to navigate the resort, especially at night, due to poorly lit highways. Even the resort lacks proper signage or lighting for guidance. If you are looking to spend quite some money and stay at one place, this might be a good choice.

Not recommended for solo travellers or any work from anywhere options. Basically not a great hostel experience. Other cottages were good. Family will enjoy. Food were really costly and taste was also not good. Wifi or any network service is poor in stay area. Water service is not there in stay area. Every time you have to come to the restaurant part. But these all services are applicable of anyone who is staying in cottage. So in short please don't opt for hostel.

We stayed with family in A/C Deluxe rooms on vacation . It is a beautiful property with serene surroundings. Has a feel of stay in jungle .Water pressure in the showers need to be improved. The room service needs to be improved particularly early in the mornings. Food quality is excellent. Maintenance and upkeep of the commune are very good. Overall we had a nice time.

Very kind host and owner family, very professional reception staff. The whole resort is very clean. The restaurant is good, choices and quality seem to vary a little with the cook, between good and very good. We spent two nights in two of the wooden cabins. Maximum romantic! A very nice contrast to the modern part of the resort with the airy open dining hall and the pool. Overall a very good experience that is worth the money.

The team was not only professional but also incredibly humble and attentive. Their warmth and eagerness to ensure guests' comfort made me feel genuinely welcomed throughout my stay. The resort organized a fantastic bonfire gathering where guests came together to enjoy music, storytelling, and the crackling flames. It was a perfect way to end a day filled with adventure and relaxation. In conclusion, my stay at this resort was an unforgettable escape into a world of beauty, tranquility, and exceptional hospitality. From the stunning swimming pool to the fragrant rose garden, the incredible hill view to the delectable food, and the warm staff to the memorable bonfire nights, every aspect of my experience was top-notch. I wholeheartedly recommend this resort to anyone seeking a perfect getaway.

Rooms and locations are good. But service is very poor. Under staff. No room cleaning on 2nd day. Food making takes 1.5 hr to services. Food taste is good but costly. Need to think again for revisit with such high cost with poor service. . Swimming pool was also not cleaned. No purification. Not worthwhile experience

Dates of stay - August 13 - August 15 Food & Restaurant staff - 9.5/10 Location - 7/10 Hospitality - 8.5/10 Pleasant, calm, beautiful property. Decently maintained. Staffs are very courteous, quality of food is definitely a plus !! Only drawback ? - Location is a bit too far from the town though, in the middle of nowhere kinda. But the above points compensates well for the odd location.
