The place is clean and well maintained. The team helped and guided the visitors. Good parking spaces are available. Information panels are available inside the building.

It is a research centre of Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute.. It is working on the major thematic areas such as Marine Capture Fisheries, Mariculture of finfishes and shellfishes, Marine Biotechnology incliding marine fish diseases, physiology, nutrition, microbiology and genetics, Marine Environmental Studies, Marine Biodiversity etc.

A place steeped in pearl culture research with telling interventions and inventions in the culture domain. An enviable research ambience manned by able scientists and trained para- scientific staff
