Chung Wah is one of the oldest classic bar cum restaurants in Kolkata. Located just opposite to E-Mall adjacent to Chandi Metro Station, this place still retains the old personal cabin coupe culture in seating area though only alloted if you are with any lady member or a big group of people. The general seating area is also quite large and decent. Cleanliness can be improved. Coming to the food and menu, they are quite pocket friendly in price in subjective to the options available there. The alcohol prices are okay except the beer prices, which were overpriced honestly. The food we ordered were actually really very good especially the dry chilly pork which was just outstanding. The main courses were also very good and this made me actually gave the rating on a higher side. The customer service needs to be improved and the behaviour of few staffs needs to be checked as well. Other than that, definitely one of the recommended bar cum restaurants if you are tight on budget !!

An age old restaurant in Central kolkata just behind the chandni metro station. The ambience is a bit dark and drowsy but don't go by the looks. One of the best and authentic Chinese restaurant around in kolkata who has maintained its food quality at an economical range. The food quantity is huge and easily be shared by 2. Their best selling is Chicken Gravy/ Pan fried noodles. It tastes too good. The portion of the gravy nicely combined in proportion with the chicken and vegetables makes you feel delectable while having it. Chilly chicken, hakka noodles are tasty as well. Try their dry chilly pork if you are a pork lover. They have separate cabins when you visit with family. Price for 2 - Rs 1000/-. A must visit in Chinese restaurant in kolkata.

Chung Wah is old and popular bar between office goers of Esplanade and Chandi Chowk area. In 2023 they're one of the very few places still having the cabin culture. Cabin means you get a private small room to have your food and drinks with your friends and loved once. Unfortunately you get cabin access only if you're in a big group or with a girl, otherwise like us you get to sit in the middle row tables. This straight horizontal row just in between from the entrance doesn't just look bad, it feels really odd to sit like that. But we didn't have any options. Most of the beers were available and prices were double of MRP, that is somewhere unjustified considering their ambiance. We took Carlsberg Strong @ Rs.320. Starters ---------------- Fish Finger @ Rs.225 (3.5/5) Can Hot Chicken @ Rs 235 (3.5/5) Fried Roast Pork Chilli @ Rs.250 (4/5) Finger and chicken starter was okays, but the pork tasted very good. Quantity was good. Fried Roast Pork Chilli is recommended. Mains ---------------- Chicken Fried Rice @ Rs.205 (2/5) Chicken Manchurian @ Rs.230 (3.5/5) Fried rice was bland but lots of eggs and chicken chunks were present. Manchurian tasted nice. Once again portion size was good for the price considering its a bar. Conclusion ----------------------- Although Chung Wah is very old but you cannot count them as legendary bar of Kolkata, because the experience all together doesn't exceed the expectations. Chung Wah is not as sober as Brodway however staffs are pleasant and welcoming but always stays busy. Food prices aren't very high unlike other bars. So overall some people might like them and some not.

It is one of the popular joints in central Kolkata. Moreover, if you are a pork lover then you must try their signature dish " chilly pork".

I sat on the first floor. Fully cabin seating. Curtains are a bit smelly. I have ordered dry chilli chicken which is below average and fish finger which is still ok. I honestly don't like the place.

Chung wah of Kolkata definitely deserved a place in that list, as this restaurant marked the beginning of Kolkata's famous tryst with Chinese cuisine. Reportedly, it is almost 130-years old and is the oldest Chinese restaurant in WB. The present owners have done their best to keep the retro look, and visiting this restaurant seems like going on a time travel. There are common sitting areas as well as cabins, and the latter ones are uniquely named. The attire of the waiters is traditional and they are very helpful. About the food, well, they keep the authentic Kolkata Chinese flavour without experimenting too much. The pork dishes are wonderful ! They do serve booze, but for the teetotallers, there is an added attraction, they serve cold drinks in the old 300 ml glass bottles, something which is rare now-a-days. The restaurant is situated just opposite the Chandni Chowk Metro station, so it is easy to reach the location. Over and above, a rewarding experience !

Welp all I can say that every pork platter in this restaurant is value for money....By all means I'll must recommend you atleast try the pork chilli....Its just great Moreover the bar section is quite reasonable too.... If you are looking for pork platters in affordable prices I'll absolutely recommend you this place..
