Chula - The Himalayan Kitchen - Restaurant in Kalimpong - Kalimpong, India

This is some of the best food I've had in my life! I hardly ever write reviews because I love and eat delicious food in NYC that's usually already reviewed ten times over. But I can't not let everyone know how amazing this food tastes. We've come back twice, and plan to come back every day for the rest of our trip to tour the menu. The owners, a wife and husband combo, are bringing back Nepalese food that they feel has been forgotten, putting their own twist on it in terms of presentation, but preserving the original and delicious recipes from their families and ancestors. On top of that, they make a point to source only local ingredients. It's a new project, and absolutely worth a special trip to Kalimpong! We happened upon it because the Art Cafe was full, and are so grateful that we did. So far everything we've tried, from the jhol momos to the tingmo to the amazing thukpa (both veg and chicken versions are amazing) have been so delicious. It's the kind of food where you can literally taste the love, that makes you happy all day, and that you might even dream about, like my fiance did. Please enjoy!

I had the Nepali thali. And oh my god! It was the best Nepali thali I have ever had. I might visit Kalimpong just to eat here again. The owners were very warm. Loved the whole experience.

It is a tough task impressing a Nepali with their own cuisine. Chula - The Himalayan Kitchen, not only impressed me but it swept me away with its authenticity, service and the most important of all the sumptuous tasty food. I literally loved everything I ordered but the winner dish of all was Jhol momo. You folks won my heart and my loyalty. Cheers to y'all.

The best Nepali cuisine I have had. Being a vegetarian, there was no dearth of options. The veg momos and Tingmo with Aloo Dum are a must try! Can't wait to come back to this place

Chula is one restaurant that you HAVE to go to when you are in Kalimpong. First of all, the atmosphere gives a good mood and an aesthetic feeling to the restaurant. The service was a bit bad on our experience because the cooking took longer than expected. But, it is worth the food. They serve really good momos, from the regular steamed ones to the must-have "khotey", which are a combination of steamed and fried dumplings. Thukpa is a beautiful and very tasty salad with glass noodles. Overall, the kitchen has its downsides but it is a must if you're traveling to Kalimpong.

If I could give more than 5 stars!! Momos have never been so tasty for me, the best best momos in town. Especially Jhol momos. My heart and stomach both are full!! Also cherry on top is their ambience

Food really felt like the real thing, with the right level of care, the attention given to dosing the ingredients right or presenting the dishes. A real hidden jewel. Hidden by the way because you can spot it from the street (no sign). Just go up the building like you'd go to the Art cafe and you'll find it! Speakeasy style

Chula, the Himalayan Kitchen at Kalimpong serves Authentic Nepalese cuisine! An extension of the well known Art Cafe, the Nepali Thali we had was simply salivating! I reckon, one of the best Thalis I had in the past! The view from the dining space, the ambience just added to the yummyness of the food! The host, a smart young chap was very courteous, amicable and kind to share with us the details of the cuisines available! A must try for all foodies who would love to steer their taste buds!
