In Malayalam "Kavu" signifies the temple for goddess. It is believed to be 1 of the most powerful temples in the world. From my childhood I have never missed a visit to this temple for its rich heritage , serenity & peace we receive when we enter. More than that the place talks about the power of woman/mother. It is believed that an army of women headed by Chittur Amma & sister Pazhayanur Kavu went to the battle fighting against the powerful evil king Kongan when the husbands ran away leaving their children. Will write more.
