Chitlapakkam Lake - Lake in Chennai - Chengalpattu, India

East half embankment pedestrian enjoyed walking. West half not paved but walkable. Sewage ditch outside of the lake prevent wastewater intrusion but where it goes? Flood overflow outlet or weirs in north, east and south. Wonder whether sufficient capacity at downstream.

best location to watch the sunset or sunrise.I was there in the evening, and while the lake view was lovely, it was a bit crowded with people walking around. The only drawback was the presence of mosquitoes, so I recommend donning repellent before visiting.

2002 I ride to school in my bicycle, I see the lake daily and it is getting more polluted by date. The garbage pile next to Chitlapakkam school is growing leaps and bound every month. The only thing I love about the lake is Ayyappan temple, I go regularly, listen to bhajans, blissful feeling all the way back home. 2023 the only thing I love about the lake is gone, but everything has improved leaps and bounds, I still can be blissful visiting Gangai amman temple and as a bonus on good rainy days the pond next to it is full and now it also has park. In Ayyappan temple place now stands an open auditorium, I have not idea on how they are going to use it. The lake is so pleasing to watch at sunset, with two natural islands in the middle and long walkway, nothing short of well spent money. I still miss the temple, but this compromise is worth it.

Awesome Place for Morning and Evening Walk & Spending time with your Loved ones

Very nice place to visit. There is NO FENCING in this Lake. Fencing will be...helpful for Children while playing. It has to be provided. Need light while walking @ the time of evening/late evening. This is also essential. Scene on 18.11.2022

Big lake area maintained well with walking foot path around lake in Chitlapakkam. Good place to view the sun rise and sunset and we can view pacha malai hill also from this lake view point. Good to visit with kids and family

Best maintained lake in South Chennai and undergoing constant activities to maintain cleanliness in the lake

Maintained by local people association and TN GOVERNMENT , IT has a good space for walking with good pawn, trees are maintained by NGO and local people . Government need to take more action to maintain this place.
