Good place to visit. I would highly recommend you to come here only in early morning or evenings.. lots of greenery here perfect place to enjoy with friends. If you are solo come here in early morning it's very calm.. Here are some pictures from last year...

As a person who was brought up in Shaktinagar, Chilka Lake was our biggest amusement park and the only picnic spot. This time, i went there for one last time before we bid farewell to Shaktinagar and it felt different. All those old memories in that place, it feels difficult. Credit where due, the NTPC Management and Town-planning was so ahead of its time. All the facilities in that park and even otherwise, were set in place almost 30-40 years back and they still hold good today. It was maintained so well and planned with such vision. The township was such a blessing in our lives. Big kudos to the NTPC for having built such facilities for their employees and their families. I remember all the school picnics we have gone to the park and the customary family picnic once a year. Chilka Lake was also the first time i tried boating. There was a windmill back in the days. The place even had a skating ring. The place also had rabbits and peacocks, but that was way back.

I had visited Chilka Jheel along with my family during first week of March,2023 as part of our week long holiday trip.Chilka jheel is located just in the vicinity of eastern sea coast about 15 kilometer from Waidhan city and looking at its vast area it is seen just like a sea in itself. Without enjoying boating in the lake the visit is not complete. We took independent boat on hire for about 2-3 hours and went inside the lake and enjoyed the boating to great extent. Boats are available at reasonable price and operated with a semi-mechanical device by expert and experienced people. The trip was quite enjoyable for all of us. In case one goes to Jwala Devi Temple to have darshan of Jwala Devi at Shaktinagar, visit to Chilka Jheel must be included as one of the tourist spot.

One of the best places of NTPC township and a perfect picnic spot. This lake park has boat rides available, swing sets for children, eateries and a great atmosphere to hang around. People come here for morning and evening walks, exercise and yoga as well. Various birds, insects visit numerous varieties of flowers planted around the lake park. The lake also contains fishes attracting birds like kingfisher and cranes which is a delight for nature lovers like me. Despite that, it gets 4/5 stars as: 1. The lake is getting polluted with plastic bottles and algae constantly floating on its surface. 2. The trees around the lake are being cut down relentlessly in recent times. 3. People often throw away plates, cups here and there instead of throwing them in dustbins (which are available). These problems are often caused due to indifference of people towards the well being of the lake park and negligence by concerned authorities. If these issues are taken care of, Chilka lake is a gem of a place.

Great place for sight seeing Completely quite and clean place

Seriously i really don't like this park.Because this place is like a game, it is not a boating i don't recommend

It's a comfortable place to walk for couples, kids .it opens at morning 5:00am to 2 :00 Pm and after 4:00pm to 9:00. And in front of chilka lake a famous temple of Lord Shiva ...
