Chilika Museum - Museum in Satapada - Puri, India

The museum is very good however it has poor maintenance. Installations have layers of dust on them. The audio and video of the dvd used in the auditorium to educate about the Chilika lake and its biodiversity is of poor quality. This museum has great collection and has lot of resources to give right education about the Chilika lake but maintenance is an issue here. Tickets is only 10Rs but when I visited no one was there to issue a ticket as well.

Good museum with a detailed history about Chilka Lake (it's a Lagoon BTW). Explained models of laye restoration and conversion was shown here and you can find the preserved bodies of all the species found in the lake. The preservation room is a bit smelly, some jars are not properly sealed and that the reason of the strong smell.

It's a small museum for mostly different Chilka lake creatures and Culture surrounding the lake. The show is also informative for interested people. The preserved animals & skeleton of dolphins is also one of the attractions for this place.

Nice collection of fishes. Like the 10 minute show on chilika lake in the auditorium. Beautiful garden outside the building. Its well maintained

The museum is situated just beside the Chilika Ecopark and exactly opposite to the Satpada Boating Office. People who are visiting Chilka Lake, this is a must visit place for them. Statues of various sea creatures, local tribal people living on this coastal area and their lifestyle are on display here. Also, there is a 15 minutes audio-visual documentary displayed at the auditorium, which is a must watch. The documentary tells us to respect marine creatures and keep a balance between us and them.

It is a good museum with all the information about fauna of the chilika lagoon. There is also a 15 mins projector show. Outside the museum there is a souvenir shop.

If you visit the place you get the idea about the lake and everything. This is the great place for children. There is a vedio show. The show is very important for tourist.
