This is an offbeat place in Puri !! I will really recommend this place to visit during ur Puri tour!!
Just loved the view here. This place is worth stopping and taking memories along with, either in form of photographs or whatever it may be. I could just pass by this point in the Coromandel Express, but even after that, I felt so good to have seen this. The train ran alongside the Chilika Lake for almost 45 minutes or above, and the stretched water looked fantastic. I was just thinking what would be the peace if one could stop there and feel the vibes of this place.
This is just a spot of highway, but the view is quite good. Be careful and responsible while stoping your vehicle and be careful, this is not a designated " view area" or a tourist spot perse - so careful while crossing the roads and mindful of taking photos and selfies
The lagoon hosts over 160 species of birds in the peak migratory season. Birds from as far as the Caspian Sea, Lake Baikal, Aral Sea and other remote parts of Russia, Kirghiz steppes of Kazakhstan, Central and southeast Asia, Ladakh and Himalayas come here. These birds travel great distances; some of them possibly travel upto 12,000 km, to reach Chilika Lake.
This place is situated on NH 16 near Khalikot Ghat. you will enjoy the serene buty of Chilika lake from a advantageous height. Should spend some time while travelling to Berhampur from Bhubaneswar or back
