Chiklihole Dam Coorg - Featured Reviews (3796)
Nice place with wonderful scenic beauty. I visited in non monsoon season thus could not see much water. Also the facilities are not that great. Only 2 3 shops available which sell fruits and Maggie etc.
It's kind of a nice place to hang out during the evening. The place is less crowded than other places in Coorg. Don't expect to see the water flowing over when you visit as it is highly seasonal and quick. The water simply overflows when the water reaches the tipping point and only overflows when heavy rain occurs.
Chiklihole Dam in Coorg is one of the scenic spot which is in the middle of forest. Good place for a walk and to click pictures. Nature lovers will enjoy this place. There is ample of parking space and no entry ticket needed to enter the place. Best time to witness this dam view is monsoon or post monsoon.
This is an iconic place to visit in coorg but one must look in advance to see the perfect water flow.. the dam gets filled when the water is there, that is when the monsoons begin and in winters. That's when you can see the perfect oval shape. The timings are from 8am to 5pm. Visit here if touring places in kushalnagar like the elephant camp, monastery. It's a beautiful view.
It's beautiful dam. U can enjoy it when the gate of the dam is open. Releasing water looks awesome. And it's free of cost but go only in the rainy season.
That was a gorgeous site even in early monsoon. The whole reservoir is presenting itself under the veil of clouds. Though the water level was on lower side , it was very scenic
The dam/reservoir is very scenic. If you are into natural beauty, visit this place. it is beautiful and peaceful, and best of all, not crowded and clean! Serene water & peaceful surroundings. Must visit while you are in Coorg if you love nature. If it's so beautiful in December, can't imagine how beautiful it would be in monsoon. Timing is till 4 but we were allowed to go inside. This is closest to Kushalnagar, but you could also visit from Madikeri. About a 40-min drive. The last 15 km are through a narrow, poorly-maintained road. So, be prepared! There are only two shops selling water, snacks, etc. at the gate.
I was expecting a great whirlpool view but it was dry. Nevertheless, the overall view was great with water and mountains in the background... If you like driving, then you might love this route
