Chikkajala Old Fort And Temple - Featured Reviews (330)
Very old place dating back to Kempe Gowda era as per the locals I spoke to when I visited the place. It is literally in ruins. A part of the wall has been demolished for NH7 widening. Guess the government takes a note of it and rescue this historical place. Not really a must visit place but can be explored if interested.
Very nice historical place very peaceful environment at the evening
This fort is on the airport road and just after the toll! This is just the ruins of an old fort and there is an adjacent temple nearby. The deconstructed architecture of the fort is very pretty and it is visually appealing to the eye if you have that interest. There is nothing much to do here but it surely classified as a visit to hang out with friends for a short one and chill.
It's an old place but very much deserted, not taken care or even noticed even though it being on the Main road and it's just left to it's ruins. Need a break from the city hustle then you can visit here for a change. There's a small Hanuman temple in front and some left of its old remains but a beautiful place to rest under a tree and enjoy the breeze to see what's it all got left of. Please be responsible and don't throw garbage or your food when visiting.
Though it's on the main road many miss to take a look at this place. Its al ruined but still if u just want to see how beautiful things were built older days like place to store ragi or wheat, rooms and wood fired stove to heat water and many other things. A beautiful Kalyani and a hanuman temple is a bliss to watch. There are few carvings on the steps of the Kalyani and those look amazing as shared in the pics. Just an hour visit I guess. Take my word if u love architecture u ll love to spend more than an hour too
Old place looks like ruins from the past, can be better I feel it should be thousands of years old with granite fort around a big area, there is hanuman temple, looks like really time travel back to older millennium, The temple pond and few other halls looks historic, I wish there was some info boards for reading the history to visitors The place is on the way to devanahalli airport, (about 25 kms from the city) and its important piece of history of Bangalore. The place needs regular care and needs to be recognized by authorizes for preservation, Very close is akkayama hill, this is about 2.5 kms from chikkajala fort With fort walls enclosing a two-acre land within the bounds, the most well-preserved piece is a Hanuman Temple. Pillars that stand after centuries of decline are arranged around a kalyani or a pond. God knows how many such important places of history is ignored and in ruins , only wish is it is restored to its magnificent beauty of it's time and say the story to future generations A good visit on the way to airport or chikkaballpur
Chikkajala fort is more than 3000 years old. It was given up for demolition for construction of the highway 9 years ago. The remaining part has a beautiful pushkarni, anjaneya swamy temple & insides of the fort. It can be noted that pushkarni steps have lovely animals & pictures of woman carved on it. If you are traveling on the highway, please stop and see the ruins - It's peaceful & the banyan tree over the fort structure gives AnkorWat feels
Actually this fort would be an most visited one if it has been maintained properly ...fort has been covered with bushes and fear of snakes but it is next to highway so you can go and take a look
