It's one of the best dams in kerala...it is a great place to visit with your family and friends... there are some limitations for taking photos and videos... idukki arch dam is just near to the cheruthoni dam... highly recommended to all....
If you are a malayali settled in Kerala then this is a place that you should have visited before you go on any other trips outside of the state. Cheruthoni is the other side of the Idukki Arch dam where you have got the shutters to let go of any excess water in the reservoir. You can enter the area through this place and can exit through the Arch dam side where you have an exit as well. You need to take entry tickets from this side to walk across the 3km stretch or get a buggy car. You can exit through the Arch dam side if you have a driver who can the vehicle there through a different route. Please not that no phones and cameras are allowed in this stretch so keep them away beforehand. You will realise the size of these dams only when you look at the other side of the dam where there is no water. Amazing piece of architecture. Worth a visit to appreciate the beauty of this great hydroelectric project and the people behind its construction.
Super place to refresh and entertaining . Cheruthony visiters Must you go Dam down side . Dam down side view it's better than dam top view. There somany big and small rocks , pond , water falls etc . But the way is little difficult to walk .but it's really very good adventur . Surely all of enjoy . If any one ready to go there better take one local guide or local people . Note:if any chance to open dam shatter, don't go that time . No chance to escape

Very big and beautiful dam. Want to walk 2+ km to seethe entire dam. You can hire electric vehicle from here. Mobile phones and any other camera devices are not allowed to carry to dam. You want to keep it in vehicle or clock room.That was little disappointment. Yo definitely dont miss to see vysali cave. It was awesome.
One of the major dams which is supporting the majestic Idukki Arch dam and part of the Idukki Hydroelectric project. Currently, entry to Idukki dam through the Cheruthoni dam is closed (as of 28th April 2023) due to maintenance. Please call DTPC Idukki prior to your visit, if you are planning to enter Idukki dam through this route. You can take the alternate route until this route is open (Search for Idukki dam bus stop in Google Maps).
You have to visit this place once. It's an awesome construction. The Idukki arch dam constructed between the two mountains is superb.
