Moderately maintained. Have to find out nearest toilets. Hotels nearby are not good enough of taste and quality. Train announcements are clear and loud enough. Police strolling is often so no need to worry about safety. Always this station is with full of crowd, plan your travel if you have more luggage. This is one of the main junction station connecting the central and other parts of city. Used the pay and use restroom in the station and they charged 5rs for men and 10rs for women. People use only when they are in emergency nature call and they are using this to loot money. A station directly opposite to the Madras Central station. It mainly caters to suburban train travel and a convenient source station to reach Egmore railway station, just one stop away on the suburban line. It just has the basic amenities, platform seating for passengers, computerized ticketing and not much more as it caters only to suburban trains. Some refreshments like tea, dosa etc are available. The station could be kept a bit more clean, but one doesn't have to wait long as trains follow one another in quick succession.
