The Chennai Maratha is possibly the best place in Shimla to enjoy authentic South Indian and Maharashtrian snacks. Located on the first floor of a building, just down a short flight of steps from the Lower Mall, it's clean, hygienic with warm lighting. It's small dining area with authentic potted plant and a flower arrangement give it a comfy, cozy ambience, especially on cold, wintry mornings. I took the bar-style seat by the window, overlooking the steps leading up to the Lower Mall Road. It's a great place not only for people-watching, but to my absolute delight, monkey-watching! A troop of monkeys slow-walked past the narrow ledge outside the window, just 5 minutes into my mouth-watering breakfast. I'd ordered a poha and a masala dosa with filter coffee. I was rather taken aback at the size of the helpings. The dishes are sizeable, and the dosa was good enough to serve two. The sambhar that accompanied the dosa was thick, served with coconut and red-chillie chutneys. I was offered extra sambhar gratis when I ran out of it. The poha was served with a slice of lemon and coconut chutney. It was absolutely delicious and a complete breakfast by itself. The filter coffee was so authentic, that the taste lingered and I ordered another after breakfast. The Chennai Maratha is an inexpensive cafe in a location of this kind, and great for customers looking for a value-for-money place. A rarity in touristy, expensive Shimla.

The taste was really bad , the worst experience ever ,would never recommend this to anyone ,the worst food , the sambar was not at all fresh,the food had a bad smell ,please if you are planning to go there please change your mind and dont go. And yes above all these people are taking extra charges for the packaging as well . Like what the hell
