Apart from the conventional and stereotypical fast-food, (Chennai Express) located at Fergusson College Road, opp. Police Ground, Shivajinagar, Pune is dishing out hearty South Indian meals from the southern regions of India. I recently visited this place and tried out the following Dishes from their menu: 1. Mulaga Podi idly 2 Mini gahee Sambar idly 3 Mysore Masala Dosa 4 Cut Dosa 5 Malabar Parota and Kurma 6 Sponge Dosa 7 Tomato Rice 8 Curd Rice 9 Tamarind Rice 10 Filter Coffee The Cafe is very Unique and Spacious in terms of the interiors and seating arrangements. Each and every dish from their menu is Outstandingly Delicious. It's pocket-friendly and everything is priced below Rs120. Malabar Parota and Kurma was my favorite from the list. With an array of mouth-watering South Indian delicacies, their Sambar is the Best I might have had till date. The Owner (Amma and his Son) were Supremly Friendly. All in all, if you're craving for some Authentic South Indian Food, Chennai Express is the one stop destination to try out for. Strongly Recommended.

Amazing place having Chennai Express theme with Ticket Counter, railway coach, signals n all looks pretty awesome. Food is great with authentic taste of South Indian food. We had Cheez dosa and mini Idly which was amazing. If you go to this place, you must try "Filter Coffee"

Visited Today! I must say the ambience of the restaurant is fully customised as a Train Theme. We have tried Chennai Special Biryani. I must say food is authentic and very polite and professional staff with best service ever. Highly Recommended to visit once in a life time with your friends and family.

If I have ever tasted the real and authentic and excellent South Indian Cuisine anywhere in Pune, it's here. Newly opened outlet of Chennai Express opp. to Police Ground, FC Road. Best South Indian preparations, a very elaborate menu, and very delicious !! The entrance to the resturant is very well designed like a Railway station, with an engine at front(Seating arrangement), and chains were painted on the walls and has Ticket counter as well(Cashier Counter). In Frame: Hot crispy and yummiiest Medu Vadai and Masala Dosa with coconut, tomato & mint Chutneys. This Place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL THE FOODIES OUT THERE !!!

Authentic South Indian Restaurant with pleasing and amazing ambience.They have a theme of a proper train amazing good done with interior. And Food was very delicious.

#superpositivereview After reading a few rave reviews here ...decided to visit the newly opened Chennai Express at Shivaji Nagar for some authentic South Indian food. It's a humble joint but the food blew us away ... What we ordered : Medu Vada Sambhar Masala Dosa Mini Idlis Cut Dosa Mirchi Bhajji Onion Tomato Uttapa Malabar Parota with Vegetable Kurma Masala Vada ( Daal Vada ) Filter Coffee.. Some homemade cake ~ On the house !!! Each and every thing we ordered was finger licking good.... It was perfectly spiced and seasoned....the authenticity was to the mark . We had 3 kids with us....and they all actually agreed on something...that the food was AMAZING !! The experience was made even better by the humble and soft spoken owner of the joint... All in all ... A must visit place if you want some authentic super delicious south Indian food !!!! P.S - We were so busy devouring the food that we didn't click any pictures.... That's for the next time ....

Had a great time eating authentic South Indian food at Chennai Express. The staff were committed to great service and were very friendly. The atmosphere was awesome. Most importantly, every food on their menu tasted great!

Ever been to a cozy little joint wherein the best part is always what you visited the place for actually? Yeah, Food! Was at this newly opened outlet of Chennai Express today. A quaint little place, serving authentic South Indian food, with a warm and welcoming staff. It has been designed in a way that you would feel it's a railway station, with an engine at one end, and chains (not to be pulled!) all along the walls. Was welcomed with a super refreshing mango & pineapple drink, which I loved! Tried the below South Indian delicacies from the menu; deg Medu Vadai: *****/5 Super crispy on the outside & soft on the inside, this was undoubtedly one of the best Vadas I've had in Pune in the recent past! deg Idlis: *****/5 This place didn't go wrong with these simple beauties. Perfect! deg Chennai Biryani: ****/5 The super loving Aunty there insisted that we try this and yes, it was vegetarian & tasty! Just a tad bit less of garam masala would've worked wonders. deg Masala Uttapam: ****/5 It had hint of turmeric, onions, tomatoes & coriander and I loved this version of Uttapam. deg Masala Ghee Roast Dosa: *****/5 Oh my! This Dosa is for sure going to give a tough competition to many branded chains I'm sure. Awesome masala and the roasting of the Dosa was just perfect! The sambhar (I'm a die hard sambhar fan!) was so good that I took extra helpings and so were the coconut, tomato & mint Chutneys. In case you are around F. C. Road and need a quick grab of some delectable South Indian food, without hurting your pockets, I highly recommend this place.
