Transportation to nearby places is not a big deal. A railway station with stop for almost trains passing through. Government operated or regulated buses are there 24x7. Taxi facility is always available. Healthcare facility is in a developed state and hospitals can be approached any time.

Bus stand needed to be constructed so fast to rebuild the requirements of this such a bus stand in the town. Long lasting works needed to be done in quality basis where long works are going on for long yrs since the flood and all. Bus stand is inappropriate now because of the construction going on

Very congested bus station with lack of facilities.No bus bays and people stands out side of the station. Limited Katrin facilities out side of the main building.Pamba special service buses are available from here on sabarimala season.walkable distance only to the railway station.

Really poor condition... Limited seating facility... No free public toilets... Not even proper time schedule of buses available with the station master. Need lot of improvement. Limited parking space for buses... You have to wait at outside for bus service at night. Buses don't go inside station at night.

The name Chengannur (chen - kunnu- ur/noor) is derived from the words 'Che' (Malayalam) which means red, 'kunnu' (Malayalam) which means hill and 'ur/oor' (Malayalam) meaning land.. It means the land of red hills. The red soil of Chengannur was different from the soil of nearby regions of Mavelikara & Kuttanad. Chengannur was a part of the Ay Kingdom in the ancient period. The Ay Kingdom's territory extended from Thiruvalla in the north to Nagercoil in the south. Subsequently it came under the sovereignty of the Cheraman Perumals. The earliest epigraphical record to mention Chengannur (Thiruchenkunrur) is the Mampalli copper plate inscription (947 CE) which records a donation from Venad chiefly family to the Chengannur Temple.[4]

Very congested place.. Limited seats and there is no snack bar inside bus depot. However, there is an outlet selling newspapers and magazines.

I have been here for a 1000 times in the past 25 years and never seen any developments on the overall bus stand structure. The only advancement was the paid toilet which got into existence before some years. The office staffs are very friendly and ready help regarding bus information. During early morning hours many of the fast passengers won't enter the bus stand as there is no space with the already parked buses. Seating facility for the passengers are very few in numbers. There is a hotel and a bakery within the bus station.
