River Adyar originates from here and it is one of the main water resource for Chennai City. This Artificial lake built by Rajendra Chola I the son of Rajaraja Chola. Advisable to visit in the day time with group of people for safety reasons.

There is no legal entry point into the lake side, there are gates which are locked, but can go inside only through bike and cycles by the sides of those gates. Sunset is the Best time to visit this place. It has two ways which is from kundrathur road(off-road) and other from outer ring road(better road).
